Ferkin heck it's OIL. It is not soluble, would youi like it coming back up your mains????
And in reply to an earlier post;
Many drains are combined sewers, ie, they take both surface water and household sewage to process. Plaster encrusted turds anyone? not for me thanksI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Most of ours aren't. Surface water goes to streams, foul water goes to the sewage farm.0 -
if it's a small amount of fat in a pan I mix it thoroughly with some washing up liquid before washing it away. A few tablespoons and I wipe the pan out with tissue and throw it in the bin.
if it's a bit too much and it will solidify, I mix it with some bird seed and nuts, pour it into a clean tuna can or plastic bag, let it set and then chuck it out to the birds.
If it's a hell of a lot of liquid stuff, I decant it into an old plastic milk container and drop it off at the tip when the jug is full and I'm passing by.
Edited to add: make sure the oil is cold before you put it in the plastic jug!!!"carpe that diem"0 -

Incident hotline
You should use the incident hotline to report an incident, such as pollution.
Telephone: 0800 807060 (Freephone, 24 hour service)
I work for the EA and this is the correct ,we investigate as it could lead to river pollution .0
