Well I have to say, as sad as it is, I have just acquired an 'ecotoaster'
Its AWESOME - never mind its made of recycled plastic, and uses 1/3 less energy to make the toast
It goes down silently when you press the button, and then the top closes over with l shutters from both sides (silently) and in a jiffy they open again (silently) and your toast magically appears!
Its awesome - we stare at it making sound effects and if that isnt sad I dont know what is!!!!!!!!!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

Hi
I am new to this board and still trying to find my way around it.
We are currently being careful with regards to electricity/gas usage and amount of money spent at the supermarkets. We have a breadmaker and slow cooker which have been used more recently, as I am trying to make more homecooked meals etc.
Is there anything else I could buy/borrow to make things easier in the kitchen to save time and money. We are thinking of buying a food processor but not sure if it will be worthwhile.
Cheers0 -
I'm sure lots of people will disagree with me, but I always cook from scratch and NEVER can be bothered with my food processor (which was a present). It's such a faff to take it apart and clean it afterwards, and because it takes up too much room on the worktop I keep it in a cupboard and it never sees the light of day!
I would recommend instead (if you haven't already got them!) a really good big sharp knife and a cheap knife sharpener, plus the sort of chopping boards that are like roughened plastic and easy to clean, and the veg don't slither about (like they do on those glass ones!)
Also, a good grater that doesn't grate your fingers!!0 -
A Remoska cooker, they are great and whilst initially you need to spend a little for the outlay they are priceless for easy cooking, using much less electricity and also very easy to clean so less hot water as you don't have to wash numerous pans.

I make my 'building blocks' when I have time, so that meals are quick to prepare. egs, home made tomato sauce, precook pulses and freeze them for later use, pizza bases, burgers, meatballs, stock, slices of salami off the big ones from Lidl ready for pizzas, errmmmm[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
