in an attempt to save money and eat better i am making everythng from scratch and was just wondering what kitchen bits you couldnt be without?
I now have a bread maker that is used often and is so good and also have a slow cooker which i have just taken back out of cupboard:T0 -
Loving my breadmaker, slow cookers (BIG one and little one)and hand held whizzy thing (apologies, the names escapes me). Also love, but less used is my Kenwood Chef.
Oh yeah, love those paper inserts you buy from Lakeland to put in loaf tins. Stops the cakes sticking and no washing up.
Now all I need is a whole new kitchen and a dishwasher....Oh no, I'm supposed to be saving money.

hi there
I have far too many kitchen "goodies"... but the only one i wouldnt be without is my electric meat mincer/sausage maker :T , oh and if i could choose a 2nd it would be my steamer..i got one of those tefal vitacuisine jobbies - where the baskets are side by side, not stacked...and that goes on every day..
I have a bread machine and food processor have just got packed away.. i always bake my bread in the oven, so the BM was only mixing anyway... and i can chop stuff much quicker by hand - than it takes me to was the stupid machine...
I have and electric pasta maker, where you throw the ingredients in and then flick a switch and it pushes the dough through discs into whatever shape you want..which i really really wanted
....got and it doesn't come out to play very often... I like my slow cooker, but do prefer to shove stuff in a huge le creuset pan and put it in the oven...
OOh OOH.... any of my le creuset stuff....couldn't part with that....:D
I think i could probably be persuaded to let go of most of the other stuff i have :shhh: just don't tell hubby - he can't believe how much stuff i have:shhh:
OOOPS im back... nearly forgot..my meat thermometer... and absolute godsend.. no more "guesstimating" with poultry in particular...perfect every time..and only a couple of £s-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
sharp kniives and decent pans!!
i also like my food processer for pastry, crumble mixes, and lots of other things (not essential but they all seem to come out better done in there)
a big stock pot is fairly vital for batch cooking and big pans of stew!- prior planning prevents poor performance!

I dont' have a lot of kitchen gadgets .......................... yet!0 -
I have a pressure cooker AND a slow cooker and love both of them.
I have a set of steamer pans which are great time/fuel savers - potatoes in the bottom and other veggies on top - even space for steamed fish if needed - all cooked on one gas ring - can't be bad!!!
Also my stick blender (only a cheapie Durabrand one from ASDA but it does the trick) comes in useful so many times.
A couple of good sharp knives are essential as well.
I prefer my coffee cafetieres (have a couple different sizes) to my filter machine which NEVER gets used since getting the cafetieres (also stops me from drinking far too much caffeine because I would ALWAYS make sure that I emptied the pot!).0 -
Yep those stick blenders !! ill be buried with mine, slow cooker, giant stockpot, i have a giant non stick frypan too that i make the worlds biggest frittata in i would be lost without that, i do like the sound of that electric pasta maker.:D .....oh my coloured fleximats very thin plastic chopping boards great for rolling pastry and dough, they only cost me a quid from poundland.:Apats :T0

my breadmaker, my slow cooker, my food processor...my really heavy duty muffin tins ( I couldn't live without those!) and my new, truly loved stockpot (how did I manage without it?)0

Hmmm. Well I don't have a breadmaker or a slow cooker but...
I couldn't do without the electric carving knife (I'm hopeless carving a roast otherwise),
the microwave,
sandwich toaster (how else do you make cheese sarnies seem exciting?)
Meat thermometer
- and although I'd survive... I'd be most upset if the dishwasher broke!!
I have a food processor and use it to chop batches of onions which I then freeze in separate bags ready to use - other than that it can be a pain to wash upworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
