Thumbs DOWN to the V&A.
I attended the Yohji Yamamoto exhibit yesterday and was confronted by not one, not 2 but FOUR sets of ppl with screaming babies in pushchairs in there while I browsed. One of whom I saw run over the train of one of the cream coloured dresses!!!!:eek::eek::eek:
When I complained they said they cant stop ppl taking pushchairs in..yet they clearly state that bags over a certain size will not be allowed in. If they can't prevent pushchairs surely they can limit the number at once for example. Mind you that will not have prevented the person running over the garment with dirty wheels??
This exhibit was not free btw which only makes things worse. I paid to travel and view and had my enjoyment ruined by screaming brats and people who cannot keep their large mechanical vehicles out of the way of others AND more importantly valuable exhibits. One thing you do NOT expect at a reputable museum or gallery is things like this.
!!!!!! is the world coming to?:mad:

Quite clearly any woman who is a mother with a pushchair cannot be a true aficionado of art. Their brains obviously get muddled by childbirth. I think a complaint to Terry Leahy at Tesco is the way forward. The man without a signature.0

How many babies is acceptable in a public place at any one time? Perhaps they should have a threshold limit. When I complained they said they cant stop ppl taking pushchairs in..yet they clearly state that bags over a certain size will not be allowed in.
I guess people could just leave their babies in the lockers with rucksacks and other bags then.I paid to travel and view and had my enjoyment ruined by screaming brats and people who cannot keep their large mechanical vehicles out of the way of others AND more importantly valuable exhibits.
Why should people keep their pushchairs out of your way. Are you royalty? Do you expect everyone to clear the path wherever you walk? One thing you do NOT expect at a reputable museum or gallery is things like this.
Why wouldn't you expect babies in a museum? Do you think parents can't go out, or that they are too stupid to appreciate a museum?0 -
Yes letting people with Children into Museums is disgusting. They should be banned. Next thing you know they'll be letting those immigrants in as well. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

i THINK QUITE FRANKLY 4 PUSHCHAIRS IN A LIMITED SPACE WHERE GARMENTS ARE DISPLAYED AND MOVING SPACE IS LIMITED CONSISTUTES MORE THAN ENOUGH. BY SOME TOKEN IF THEY ARE SAYING THERE IS NO ROOM FOR LARGE BAGS THERE IS CERTAINLY NO ROOM FOR HUGE BUGGIES AND PUSHCHAIRS??
I guess people could just leave their babies in the lockers with rucksacks and other bags then.
TBH I HAVE NO IDEA WHY PPL EVEN THINK IT APPROPRIATE TO BRING BABIES THERE.ITS NOT A CHILDS PLAY ENVIRONMENT.

AGAIN i WASNT ON ABOUT my WAY BUT WHEN THEY ARE DESTROYING VALUABLE ITEMS THEN SORRY YES I DO THINK THEY SHOULD WATCH WHERE THE BLEEP THEY ARE PUSHING THEMWhat Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Sorry I seem to have wandered onto Mumsnet:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

I'm guessing the 'no large bag' rule was more in the interest of someone walking out with one of the exhibits in the large bag.0

I can't abide the chuntering fascists you get over on mumsnet... but seriously? You don't think parents should take babies to museums? I agree a screaming child might not be the background noise I choose to live with, but they can't help it!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Again these were not art lovers with kids, they were day trippers. It became clear when they saw NOTHING wrong when I pointed out they were wheeling their filthy wet pushchair wheels over delicate exhibited garments. If I had as an art lover taken my child in there and someone had pointed out to me that i was damaging the exhibition pieces, I would have been horrified and rightly so.
Surely your gripe here should be with the V&A, they are the ones who have, allegedly (as I haven't been to the exhibition so can neither confirm nor deny) placed priceless, valuable, delicate ehibits so poorly that they are becoming damaged my visitors with pushchairs.
Not only that, if you can get THAT close to the exhibits I would imagine they may pose a tripping hazard for non-pushchair users with their wet and dirty shoes.
I would have expected such priceless exhibits to be placed on plinths at the very least, but preferably in glass cases. I think a strong worded letter to the curator, Ligaya Salazar, pointing out the carelessness in which they have displayed such valuable exhibits would be a far more resourceful use of your time than ranting on an internet forum about parents who dare to visit the V&A while you are in residence.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
