If the Museum had done their job right they'd have put a cordon around the exhibit to avoid this happening unless the person being exhibited specifically requested this not be the case as some form of "artistic license", it is neither up to you nor any other observer to judge this unless the full fact is known. You're essentially moaning about children though or would you prefer it if people with toddlers/babies were barred from all places save nurseries?
I think you could have worded it a lot better, i get the point you don't think it's right (i would to an extent be tempted to agree) but ultimately with art, unless you're 100% aware of the specified instructions of the installation it's not safe to assume it's an oversight.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
Yes i actually dont think if they are of screaming age then they are too young but my point was more of the damage caused to one of the exhibition pieces... its not acceptable in my view to have dirty pushchair wheels rolling all over the train of a very expensive Yohji Yamamoto dress...and I cant believe how castigated I have got for expressing a valid point/opinion.
It's not acceptable to have the dress mangled by a pushchair (although that begs the question why is it so near to possible danger...?).
I think it's just more the tone of your post! You did seem pretty outraged!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

omg i hope that you write a strongly worded letter to every single on of those mothers telling them that they should not attend museums ever again especaily the one who rode over someones dress in a pushchair and screaming in a museum good god they should send our local librarian round she have it quiet in a jiffy
ok rant over now

I totally agree with you Reverbe.
I was at the V&A a few days ago (visiting the Cult of Beauty exhibition) and noticed the way the items are displayed in the YY exhibition - no glass cases, just stands, apparently (I didn't go in, I was just walking past the entrance)
These exhibitions are expensive to attend - to have your enjoyment ruined by ghastly squalling brats with ignorant destructive parents is dreadful.
I cant imagine why so many posters on here imagine we should be tolerant of this kind of behaviour...0 -
The special exhibitions are expensive, but the museum is free - and it is frankly one of the awesomest museums anywhere, I love it to bits in there! Just go during a quiet snap, away from the school holidays and peak tourist season, on maybe a weekday morning0

Possibly because 'ghastly squalling' and 'ignorant destructive' are rather subjective descriptions. One person's 'brat' might just be another's 'kid enjoying a day out at a museum'.
But we don't know because we weren't there. Perhaps this thread has run its course... just seems like a breeding ground for squabbling"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Well not totally subjective you know: if the mother allowed the push chair to run over an exhibit she was certainly both ignorant and destructive.
If the children were young enough to be screaming in a pushchair, they were certainly too young to enjoy the exhibition...0
