Sewing needles found in food

Options
Hi all
Please bear with me I'm new and after some advice. I recently purchased a pack of burgers from asda, when eating them yesterday I found a sewing needle, which I nearly swallowed, I then checked the burger and found a second needle. I've phoned asda this morning and spoken to the quality control manager who wants me to take the needles and packaging in. I have taken photographs, but do I hand it over or phone trading standards also?
Thanks in advance for any replies

    MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. • No, the box was intact until I opened it

My thoughts say the "shop" will want it brushed under the carpet and people could get hurt, I would call the trading standards, someone could be tampering with food at the factory.

You need to return the product to Asda asap, obviously sewing needles will not be part of the burger producing process so the sooner they can investigate the origin of the needles the quicker (if the product is found to be contaminated before you purchased) they can issue a product recall for the batch etc.
  • Thank you, I wasn't sure whether to contact anyone else and I was dubious about just handing the needles and packaging over to asda

Will not happen, it's not in the shops interest to brush it under the carpet, the shop has not produced the product and will have procedures in place with the manufacturer to ensure they can investigate it and possibly fine the manufacturer.

Call asda head office. I used to work for another major supermarket head office. If we had an allegation like this we would have gone straight to the customers house to collect it. Withdrawn all from sale etc

Needles suggest deliberate sabotage either in the factory or the store.

Not like a bit of blue plaster etc
