I'm well aware that bought is to buy, brought is to bring.
However I think that as this is a board to help people to rectify problems they have with ebay, to then try & humiliate them because they've used the wrong word is a little pathetic.

I wasn't trying to humiliate them in the slightest. Just doing my bit to keep the English language alive!

Personally I prefer to have my errors pointed out so that I can get it right next time, otherwise, how am I supposed to learn?!?!?

Ahh, thanks for explaining, I was blissfully unaware - shame spell check don't point out grammatical errors

    See, another satisfied customer!

Feline - phone the number! If it's the wrong one, then no harm done!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It wasn't you who I quoted. That's working on the assumption you only post using one name.
It was the poster who used red writing:rotfl:
Personally I think that there are ways in which to point something out. I found that to be rather offensive and rude.
Just doing my bit to keep good manners alive!!!

I'm actually in the same boat as the original poster with the same seller, and i did get the sellers contact details from ebay yesterday.

I managed to speak to someone on the phone today - and they denied all knowledge and that they didn't know the seller.

I've contacted ebay regarding the apparent false details and I'm waiting on them to look into it.

Is there anything else I can do?

At the moment both the poster and myself have paid £90 each to this seller and it seems as if he's going to walk away scott free as we are not able to file a dispute with either ebay or paypal.

On Sunday night/Monday morning - he's sold over £500 worth of goods - mainly vouchers, and one playstation 3

Has the account been dormant for a long time? Apparently scammers will hack into an account that hasn't been used.
If you can't get an address you can't issue court proceedings.
Are there still any live listings for them?

As per the original poster I have been buying vouchers off ebay for some time now and never had a problem but I really wish I had looked into the seller more closely before buying as now that I have - things start looking more suspicious.

They are a new seller - only registered a week or two ago. Sold a few vouchers which they got a good feedback for then listed Amazon, argos, Marks and Spencers vouchers all with a decent discount.

The address that ebay has provided is just an area - which is Sheffield and a telephone number for someone in Wrexham

But no - they haven't got any live listings - all listings ended on Monday morning.

Have you been on live help or phoned ebay, I don't know how you contacted someone who said they would look into it.
It may be worth phoning if the phone number's wrong I thought that they verified that when you opened an account.

Its live support I've been using. I'm still actually still on live support just now been speaking to them for about 1hr now. The person at the other end is apparently investigating it and keeps advising to wait another five minutes while they look into it.

    p.s.

But your right - when I started selling items on ebay - they confirmed my telephone number before I could post any items. Paypal also held onto any on my payments for 21 days or until good feedback had been received.

Hopefully there will be something that they can do, I know they don't usually cover vouchers however you would expect a new seller to have had their ID & phone number confirmed, so in this case it seems that ebay-paypal should be at least partly to blame.
I should have thought that as a new seller paypal would be holding their funds, so would be able to refund.

ok the outcome of my live chat was that they're going to email the seller and ask them to update there contact details and i've to wait at least 2 or 3 days.

I would have assumed that paypal would be holding there funds as well as it happened to me when I was a new seller (still does at times) for items as small as £5.

I'm just hoping that the seller comes good and i've been worried about nothing but when he doesn't contact you and when the person at the other end of the phone has never heard or sold anything on ebay it just doesn't look good.

Guess ebay live help were bored with talking to you then.
If they had only just registered I'm sure they wouldn't have used an out of date contact number.
