Phonecalls when im in interview vent

Lets see who else has this problem:
I go to some interview, doesn't matter where or who with, the important thing is i sit in the chair across from the interviewer or who ever i am speaking to.
2 minutes into the conversation their desk phone rings, then they say "excuse me for a moment" and answer the phone, and have me sitting there like a ice lolly for 5 minutes......
Ends call and carries on with conversation - 2 mins later phone rings again, "excuse me......" and blabs for 10 minutes, again i'm sat there looking into space and the cosmos.
This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME, NOT ONCE DO THEY EVER PUT THE SILENT RING ON OR EVER, EVER NOT ANSWER IT
Now then, if i call someone, doesn't matter who or what for, i get the following message "The manager is in a meeting right now" "He is with a client right now can i call you back....." or the best one yet "Shes on her lunch right now...... (at 9.50am? ) point is WHEN I CALL I DON'T GET NO ANSWER, EVER!!!! THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME!!!!
You have this problem too or am i the unluckiest guy on this planet at communications?

Its pretty normal.
I have had the opposite where my phone starting ringing while I was in the interview (Silent vibration).
It was the agent who got me the interview. I don't answer so they ring me straight back, But they know I am in the interview so why are they still ringing.
I just excuse myself for the interuption and turn the phone off.
I had one interview where the interviewer got called twice. The first time I let them take the call. After the 2nd time I asked them if they were so busy did they want me to re-schedule for later in the day when the "Emergency" had passed.
They quickly apologised and got rid of the phone.
Could it have been a test to see how you deal with such situations?August Make £10 per day £0/£310Credit Card Debt Paid Off £42/2952.680 -

A 20 year long test? Its happened all my life, very much doubt its a test, annoying when other clients get seen to straight away i'm left standing, whether i phone them or not, if its my interview then other clients are always welcome to interrupt, if i phone them they are always with a client and can't be contacted.
Thanks.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -

Then they are very unprofessional people.
I've only ever worked in a (very) large organisation and whenever I've been either an interviewee or interviewer there were NO phone calls at all.
It's downright rude.
In a similar vein, it annoys me when I'm somewhere (library, shop etc) and the phone rings and the person serving me says 'Excuse me' and goes off to answer the phone.
Why does someone ringing up get priority over a customer actually on the premises? :mad:0 -

I too work in a large organisation (one of the largest in fact) and my last internal 'interview' for a Director level position took place in the local Starbucks and was conducted by the MD's right hand man with no HR involvement.
Not surprisingly I didn't get the role (nor given the culture would I have wanted it) but it was very satisfying when my current HR Manager wrote to the recruiter asking for the interview notes and feedback on why I wasn't considered suitable
Needless to say the interviewer no longer works for the organisation and the MD has instigated a cultural change programme0 -

That happens to me a lot as well, they answer the phone rather than see to whoever is actually there.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -

because the person on the phone can't SEE the person currently being served and is thinking "taking their sweet time to answer my call" but the customer physically there can see and hear the phone ringing.0 -
we have a customer promise at work that we will answer the phone within 5 rings (and with a smile) but in a past role in the same company when i was on a counter if the phone rang you had to stay with the customer you were serving and let the phone ring (customer promise gone out the window). This was made equally difficult as it was in a library and a phone ringing out was very annoying for the library users. Catch 22 really!0

Get your mobile phone out and see how they like it.0

It's flippin' rude!!!!
There is no excuse other than a life threatening emergency.
If you don't get the job, I'd give feedback to the company saying how disappiointed you were with the interviewers lack of commitment to the job in hand.0 -
my boss is a serial phone answerer, whatever meeting you're in with him.
its very annoying as he can never concentrate on the task in hand
I, however, love my do not disturb button!0
