I'm sure we can but just want to be ready!!! lol
And what about prizes that don't have definate values???
Although perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself?? - the power of postitive thinking and all that!!
Good luck everyone
Im classing any prizes received during 2007 in mine - regardless of when I entered them.

I think we should count any prizes received in 2007. They can come a long time in arrears.
I am not sure about the 'no definite value'. Movie promotionla stuff is a classic example of this. Perhaps it would be better to make a realistic guess.
I am also unsure about the stated value of a lot of prizes. A good mser would just laugh at paying that amount for them. Do we make it stated value or mse value?0 -
I say approximate MSE value that we could expect to pay on the highstreet. A search round Woolies, Tesco or Argos sites should find most things, or we could also check eBay I guess for the more unusual.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0

Hi Prudent this is a great idea, please count me in. I have won many competitions over the years from postal competitions my most recent being this week when a 'Scary Movie 4' DVD landed on the mat won through a local paper although I dont remember doing a competition for this prize ( Maybe it was a runners -up ) Local papers are certainly good comps to enter because not so many people do them. I have only won one internet comp so far and that was a bottle of Marc Jacobs perfume earlier this year. This year my list of prizes worked out to just over £100 but in previous years i've often won into 4 figures
and a lot of them through the local paper including hot air balloon ride with champagne, loads of years supplies of alcohol, gift vouchers, a tissot watch, a home cinema system, mountain bikes Etc so I well recommend comping to all.
I always tend to decorate my postcards too, with stickers ( preferably related to the prize ), fluorescent pens and I tend to buy picture postcards when possible which are usually just a fraction bigger then the plain white ones and sometimes shaped. I usually send at least a week before the closing date also incase of postal delays, with entry forms I tend to send in coloured envelopes. I go out of my way to make my entries stand out and I have found a rhyming dictionary a good thing to have for those tie-breaker ones.
My broadband fees are £15 a month and where I do not work I limit my postal entries to 15 2nd class stamps a week and I very rarely enter text and phonecalls. So I need to try and work towards £360.00 worth of prizes.0 -
Sorry me again: forgot to mention this website http://www.justcomps.co.uk/competitions/index.html.
This address may have already been mentioned in a previous post and I do apologise if this is the case.0 -
Oooh what a fab idea, I'd like to join up too
I reckon I need to win approx' £200. I won a few things when I was much much younger, but nothing for ages now (although I've had some fab freebies recently!)
I'm going to enter as many as I can but I do tend to slip into "zombie" mode if I type the same thing over and over -auto fill works 60% of the time. But I don't mind getting RSI if I can win a Caribbean holiday so I can recover on a gorgeous sandy beach....bliss
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE :beer:0 -
What a wonderful idea, would love to join if that's ok?
I live with my parents but we pay £50 a month for broadband and free landline calls - £25 for the internet is covered by my dads work so i'll aim to cover the other £25 a month!
so £300 for me   :eek:0 -
My heart sank when I read the title of the thread as despite entering just about every competition that's listed on here, plus several daily entry competitions such as bananalotto etc, I never win anything.
However, if we're going to try and win the cost of our internet access during the year, then I've already won the challenge, as ours is free (because my husband works for our ISP!).
I'll keep on comping though, on the grounds that surely sooner or later my luck has to change!!
ETA - just realised I'm a liar lol. I won an electric toothbrush in the HSA thing. I've already received that, so that won't count, but I also won a digital radio, so I can try and work out how much that's worth when it arrives, and that will start me off.
Also - does anyone here do Tombola competition type thing online? http://uk.tombola.com/Default.asp. Just wondering as I have 4600 bonus points to use in the bonus game. However, looking on the list of previous winners for that, it seems that no one has won since October 2004, although it seems to have been won regularly before then. Does anyone else get the same winner date as me??0
