Some people don't.
Some people want to move into a place that doesn't need any work done at all.:)
Yes. Absolutely agree with that. One difficulty at the moment is that people find it hard to scrape together the deposit, let alone find money to fund improvements. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Which is why a lot of people won't entertain delapidated buildings or property which needs renovating or just 'dong up'. Besides that, it's a hassle, expensive - and time consuming.0 -

Absolutely correct. Was reading just the other day how nowdays people don't just want LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION they want the property to be in very good shape and stand out from the rest.0 -
I can tell you about the experience I had selling my aunt's house for her when she went into a home. By then, she was very elderly, and nothing at all had been done to the house for around 50 years. It needed a complete renovation, including a new bathroom, kitchen, wiring, central heating, some structural work, and new windows, although it did have all of the original features.
The fully renovated house next door had just sold for £272,000, and we were given ballpark estimates by the builders of around £80,000 to bring my aunt's house up to the same standard. In practice, we sold it as seen for £250,000, and we had several people interested in buying it at that price. This was several years ago, when it was easier to get finance. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I recently went through this process and must admit it isn't a dignifying way of parting with your property that you have put many a hard year of effort into paying off your mortgage. We were in financial trouble and didn't have the time to sell the property as our saving had gone and we were in several months worth of arrears.
After 18 months you know there is a problem. We couldn't afford to apply the new lick of paint, re-turf the garden, put a cheap new kitchen in etc.
In the end, opting to use a Home Buyer was the only option. We did and we got our money in less than 3 weeks. We did however only achieve 75% of the original asking price.0 -
I forgot to mention there was a big variation in the offer price with some offering as low as 60% so make sure if you really have to sell you house quickly, that you shop around! Also make the home improvements as soon as you need to sell your house as these will surely help and can be done very cheaply.0

Before considering selling to one of these companies try reducing the property yourself. We had our fingers burnt by a Sell and Rent Back scumbag, and wish we had sold and moved out rather than going down that road. My advice to you would be AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!0
