NTL 300k BB AND Phone for £17.99 offer

The offer is still valid, at least it was when I signed up for it early this afternoon, we have at least three friends on NTL broadband and they seem quite happy with it, so let's hope this doesn't dissolve into an installation and support disaster.
I put a similar post in the Referrers board, if you are in the North end of England, want go for this deal and wouldn't mind referring me, please check the referrers board.0 -
We moved house last year and having cancelled ntl for everything at the old place, then changed our minds after we had problems with BT and a rep called and had it installed here. There were no charges, and they do do a BT type range of cheap phone call packages if you did want to go with them. The only problem we have had with them is getting them to collect the box for the tv package, took 3 attempts. You do need to give them a month's notice though, which is difficult with the current house buying process (couldn't have done it with our move), which is a bit dodgy. They also charged us all the next month's usual charges, but then rebated it very quickly. Their customer service is MILES better than it used to be - their recorded message used to say that you were going to queue for over 10 mins!!!!!Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early0

At the moment my 1 year offer with NTL has just finished (dial up and phone inc landline calls)this cost £25, it was a good offer at the time but is very poor now.
"the ntl lads" hang out at our local bus station signing people up so i had a chat with them yesterday and they said that the 300 BB plus phone £17.99 is for NEW customers ONLY i would have to cancel and this would mean to get the offer i would get a new number which i would like to avoid.
Do you think if i try to cancel they may give me the offer anyway?Good luck everyone with your money saving0 -
Lots of people seem to get better deals when they threaten to cancel. You might need to talk to the customer retention section, rather than customer services, but they will normally put you through when you ask to cancel your account.
NTL can't stop you keeping your old number, it is yours after all, not theirs.0 -
I'm having difficulty choosing a broadband package as I'm on an excellent NTL package - it is:-
(Pay basic BT line rental to BT @£10.50)
then:-
Pay NTL £15 per month
Get unlimited dialup 24/7
Get £15 worth of phone calls per month
but the snag is that its £15 worth of calls which at NTL rates are firstly cheap anyway and secondly covers every single number possible!
So if I came to the last day of my bill period and found I still had £10 of credit left (can be checked instantly online), then I can use 0870/0871/0744 numbers to call international or even enter a few £1.50 per minute competitions etc.
Is there a better broadband deal out there?0 -

edinburghlass wrote:larl, when its a combined offer with internet and phone calls you can usually find a much cheaper option if you separate the two.
The £5 a month you have to pay for calls can be had for nothing for a year by checking out the Home Phones board
Ah, but there is NO line rental with NTL, so instant £10 per month savingI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Are you sure about the family package being included? Why I saw this I interpretted it as the value package. (family package £19.50, telephone line rental £9.50, broadband £17.99 = £46.99) If so that is a great saving.

Just rang up to cancel my dial up and phone (was paying £25 but inc landline calls).
Customer relations managed to cut me off twice within 20 seconds of the call starting after being on hold for over 25 mins.
The third time i was more successful.
I was offered 1mb broadband and phone line ( no calls ) £17.99 all install free
and even through in first month free.Good luck everyone with your money saving0
