Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Just heard about the problems and fortunately my f/f isn't affected. To those who criticise, of course I feel for anyone who bought a faulty machine but imho Beko has had a good reputation and clean slate til now and to be fair appears to be doing all it can to correct thr faults. I've had my Beko cooker and washing machine for many years with no complaints about their efficiency and feel quite happy to buy from a company which does its best to correct faults, rather than cover them up.

Has anyone had the modification done yet? If so what did they do and how long did it take? Mine is built in and is in a very small kitchen and I am wondering if it is the back they need to get to or if it is somewhere at the front. Thanks.
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

I'd just like to add that this is not the first time Beko have had massive safety issues with fridges. It rung a bell so I've just been back through my old diaries arriving at autumn 1992.

Back then their first UK model left the factory with faulty earthing on the compressor. I found out about it when an Iceland engineer was sent to do a 'Beko Safety Check'. He told me that it was part of a UK wide recall and that had been to hundreds of them (about 1 in 3 were dangerous he added).

Mind you, he told me they had a worse model (The Eurotech 9001 made by Merloni) that were catching fire in peoples homes! So it's not just Beko that make potentially dangerous rubbish.

Funny thing is this kind of thing has a massive impact on the reputation of a company for years and years. Just recently I had to purchase some new appliances and whilst I nearly considered Beko thinking 'They must have sorted out the problems they had in the past?' ,the story of this latest episode broke and reminded me that what they made is mostly junk.
