the terms & conditions for the new card state the card can only be used at natwest, rbs & ulster ATMs.

I think chambta was referring to an earlier post where a staff member was told that all step accounts will be switching over to the Basic account within the next 2 weeks, and that their cards will be restricted.
As far as we're aware this won't be happening [yet] and you will be notified prior to the change over, but if anyone opens a Basic account, the new terms will apply - including the ATM restriction.Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion

Thank you everyone for your help! I think Natwest/RBS may not have made the best move with this but we'll have to wait and see

This level of misinformation is obviously designed to get customers used to what they can expect from Santander! It's very hard on those customers not being transferred though.0

I take it Ulsterbank are not changing anything, or are they just a month behind as usual ?0

Looking at the Faqs page someone posted, all existing accounts will remain the same, ie the cards use at both national and international ATM'sI am a NatWest Step, Current Plus or Advantage Blue customer, am I still able to use non-NatWest ATMs?
Yes, our existing customers who hold a Step, Current Plus or Advantage Blue account will be able to use UK and overseas cash machines as they do today.0 -
efundz, that's what the website says, unfortunately several people on here, including myself, have been told differently by RBS staff, both in-branch and via phone banking. Personally, I'm more inclined to trust the website, but it's unsettling to say the least.0

I believe the old accounts will be converted to their current equivalents in September.
Regarding the card issue, any current cards will probably be replaced with the new version when you order a new card - eg you've lost it/ had it stolen/ expired.Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion
