Can you advise about the changes to Natwest/RBS accounts please?

So just who does know? phone banking is worse than useless for getting a straight answer on anything complicated at the best of times. You can ask the same question 3 times and get 3 different answers.

I can assure you its just as fraustrating for staff as it is for customers.

My personal understanding is the Step and Key account will be unaffected by the changes but who knows.

Ill be back in work tomorrow so I will carry out my own internal investigations.

Hmm, we were told today (I work in a NW branch) that all step customers will be changing over to basic accounts (and therefore lose access to non-RBS ATMs) in the next 2 weeks.

From what we were told, it's not the same date for everyone but people will get letter when they are going to change.

I wish they would make it clear as we're quite confused!

I think if that was the case the bank/group are making a very big mistake as it will have a great impact on alot of customers. Atleast the people who choose to open a basic account now know whats involved. I dont think this be one the banks bestest moves

Absolutely not the case. Worrying that you've been given that information!

Is the new card design the one for the basic account? Just looked on the new t&cs for that and the card looked different?

Where's the new card? I can't see it!

Exactly what I'm worried about! The communication has not been clear. It would appear we have been given incorrect info at branch level then.

For what are major changes it's been very low key. Lack of information is one thing though, misinformation another.
