edit: Now remote lcd comes on (all segments) and then goes off and does nothing more : now it won't come on at all0 -
xxdeebeexx wrote:Sorry to ask a ,probably, obvious question but, how did you get money refunded? I bought 3 of these on Christmas eve and paid £4.99 each for them. Can I just go back to Comets and ask for a refund of £3 each?
Does it have to be the Comets I bought them from or can it be any? and....what do I say ??
TIA
D
Just to let you know that Comets have a 14 day price match policy. I took my receipt back and got refunded £9....£3 for each of the weather stations I bought on Christmas eve. Really easy and without any fuss.
Thanks everyone for the info......without this site I would never have known about the price match let alone have the confidence to go an get a refund !!

To manually send the data to the main unit.
Did yours not come with instructions! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Has anyone else notoced that the display on the main unit has faded? I changed the batteries a couple of days ago and it's faded again alreadyJust run, run and keep on running!0

Do we think this was one of those products they just buy in for xmas, or can I hold out hope for a possible replacement at some point in my warranty period0 -
If it's any use to anyone, I found a rather nice Oregon weather station in TK Maxx today for £18. In the absence of a Comet bargain I bought it as the Price on Amazon is £70 and they are going for £50+ on eBay.
There were more on the shelves in Cheltenham.Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0 -
I took mine back in the end. The sensor failed for third time when it rained and this time I had it in a shed with just the probe sticking outside.0

Well I'm blowed, mines working again.
The remote sensor part seems very touchy.
I had that sited in the garage, and sensor wire going outside via door frame
Worked OK for a while, then noticed no outside temp was reported.
Checked remote sensor was displaying a temp and red light was flashing OK
So as someone else said supected batteries in remote unit.
Changed batteries, got some odd effects as reported earlier.
Eventually gave up thought it was busted and just left it alone, no display, no flashing red led. Thought I'd just use the main unit
Now tonight (10days later) we notice that the red led was flashing again, and temp showing on remote unit, but no outside temp on main unit,
Tried resetting main unit, and up comes the outside temp on main unit
result (for how long I don't know)
Can't explain whats going on here ....
Seems the remote unit don't like being out in the cold, well its not really been that cold , and it was in garage anyway, but now its warmed up/dried out its OK
But if you open up the remote unit it looks like it was intended to out outside and get damp, since the internals are protected inside a 'sealed' partion with rubber gasket etc
For £5 we've had a lot of entertainment out of this box one way and another0 -
I took mine back today as I've changed the batteries four times.
Got the next model up for £14.99 and really pleased with it. Don't understand half of it but it's got a cute picture of a weathergirl and lots of flashy thingsJust run, run and keep on running!0
