• i smuggle them in bits of tuna or sausage. mind you my male cat seems to like them- weird as he hates cat treats such as dreamies and pushes them away like they are poison:eek:

At me? Sorry if I have offended :( Wasn't my intention - and as I said I never read the whole thread

and still haven't :o
Don't think GR was offended by you - she is frustrated by the situation and I expect the multiple scratch wounds are still sore.

:o I am butting in because I know GR is very busy with her new job and might not get online again for a few days.
(Now I've said that she might be back tonight.) :o:o
Please excuse me

I really do nto want to have to deal with tablets - in any way.

With six cats I can not crush them/sneak into food etc and ensure that the correct cat has it, it is just not practical. May be if one hes 1-2 cats, not with 6.

That is why I started the thread about alternative to tablets - not ways to give tablets... sighhhh

Perhaps your best bet is to alternate Droncit Spot On (cheapish) with Stronghold Spot On.

I agree with Walwin: Profender would most suit your needs - "Active against tapeworm, roundworm and hookworms."
(For anyone else interested, there is a comprehensive list of effective medications here; and useful info in Drontal FAQ)

... Milbemax is far far smaller than Drontal so most cats will take the wrapped in some chicken or ham or prawn (I read your post, but you mentioned size so :o). IIRC both Stronghold and Milbemax are prescription only so might not be as MSE as Drontal.

I agree with FF - Milbemax is well worth trying.
red_smile.gif I knowww you said you don't want tablets, but if you can find a painless way to administer them, then that still may be the best option for you and your cats ????

Do you have to treat all six cats the very same night?
How about one cat each night?
If I knew someone had done something horrible to two others and now they were coming for me ...
Yes, I'd scratch them to bits.

And they will sense that you're stressed about it.

But have a relaxing tipple ... take one cat to another room, make a fuss of him/her "you're my favourite" and give them a few treats and and more fuss afterwards - then they'll smugly walk out and the other cats will want their turn - at least they won't be apprehensive.

These will come in 3 weeks, and if you follow Paddypaws advice, you'll get around 90 in a pack.

Then it should be easy-peasy! 74_74.gif

If we were in USA you could find a compounding pharmacy.
"pharmacist can make changes, such as going from a pill form to either a tasty liquid or a gel that can be rubbed into the hairless part of an ear or a stomach". I wish!
But even then they might not be able to change a particular pill without compromising its efficacy.
I think there are health and safety reasons preventing their operation in UK.

If only all cats were like this:
"Pills were very very small and he had to have 3 halves. Did the open mouth, get down throat and stroke trick, but followed it up with 2 treats. Now this cat will do a lot for treats!
Next day left the 3 halves on the table and he ate them then waited for his treat!
"
