Cat worming tablets - alternatives?

After giving those to my 6 today - there is no way I am ever going to do it again.
Who in their right mind thought of those tablets? The size of them, the way cats hate it?
Surely there has to be some other way of worming the cats?
All 6 cats are sulking and I am absolutely covered in very painful scratches all over.
It was not easy, for me or for them.
Any suggestions?
I am NOT looking for ways/gadgets to give them tablets with - I am looking for an alternative to tablets.

Stronghold spot on covers fleas, ear mites and most worms; there is another spot-on just for worms but cannot recall the name! Milbemax is far far smaller than Drontal so most cats will take the wrapped in some chicken or ham or prawn (I read your post, but you mentioned size so
). IIRC both Stronghold and Milbemax are prescription only so might not be as MSE as Drontal.

Profender is the spot-on that kills all worms, but is only available from a vet or with prescription so will be really expensive for 6
I pay £6.28 for a medium size dose (2.5 - 5kg cat) from my vet which is okay for one cat but for 6
Stronghold doesn't get rid of tapeworms.0 -
I bought the spot on type cat wormer from pets at home, and it was only around the £6 mark...
wormed her yesturday, and no ill effects...Work to live= not live to work0 -

 Stronghold is £8-ish here so a cheaper than Profender when you consider how much it covers.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Ohhh I sympathise - I don't know how anyone is supposed to be able to do it "single handed" - I would need at least 3 pairs or arms & hands.
Last time, the vet (was a locum) even refused to give my girl one (and there were 3 of us there).
Have tried some liquid ones but they're now even getting wise to that.:(Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

nightmare. Drontal pills are even slightly smaller than they used to be, it has made it a little easier for us. One of ours has to be "burrito'd" to stop her scratching us, but she still makes an awful noise when we do it, she's absolutely fine after though, doesn't cringe away from us or anything. the other is generally OK with it, struggles but doesn't try to scratch us or cry, so we can usually get it done without wrapping her up. The proudest moment of my cat owning life was when we'd had them 1 week and managed to successfully worm them! Just want to add - there are 2 of us doing it, one holding the cat down and opening the mouth, the other firing the tablet in!! No idea how we'd do it on our own.
The problem is that cats are generally so suspicious of their food, they won't just gobble it up like dogs. And you can't crush drontal as apparently it is incredibly bitter under the coating so they can smell it a mile off.
Sorry - realise this is not of practical use to you!!0 -
Someone posted this the other week (apologies, forget who) - http://www.catclinic.co.uk/fun/funtext/givepill.htm

Thanks for osting everyone... went to work today and everyone was looking at me like I am into self harming/cutting myself.. Tried to tell them it was cats and got "Oh yes, of course... cats.." and pity looks
Reminded me of the time when I got a black eye (and I mean very black eye, through all shades of green etc etc) while plaing balls (tennis balls) with our dogs in a gropup of people/dogs - one hit me ruight in the eye.. and at work it was "Oh, yes, of course.. tennis ball.... YOu suire upi did not "walk nto a door" or something?"... and those pity looks
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Someone at work told me today that her cat is wormed at the vets with something that lasts a whole year but she could not remember what that was? She said she does it at the same time as yearly jabs - at the vets....
?????????????
Thanks a million....
