Don't forget you can get the database for free for 20 years if you submit a new camera site to pocketgpsworld, that's how I got mine ;)
Looking to raise some money ;)
  • you can just pay £2 and get one months download (it never expires). But is will become out of date as new cameras are put up :(
  • Hi Guy's :D

There are many places on the net that you can download "pocketgpsworld.com speed camera DB" from... there are people out there that upload them once a new version become available... + you can buy them on ebay for £1. so take your pick. :p

    Very Dodgy thread this.
The database is copyright, pure and simple.
True it is the combined effort of a lot of people to identify the cameras and even more to maintain the database but it is "owned" by "pocketGPS world"

Therefore obtaining an illegitimate copy and using it is nothing more than Software piracy no matter how its dressed up.

Incidentally the P2P versions released often have cameras in such places as the North Sea :) amongst other places - a little joke the mods at GPSworld like to play on the pirates.

do you have to pay 2 quid every month or can you just pay £2 every 3- 4 months or when ever you feel like updating it .Is it just a file you copy onto your tomtom and then it just stays there until you feel like updating it or does it some how expire after a month ??

Pay £2 whenever you like basically.

There aren't many changes these days anyway - mostly roadworks.

So are you saying that the GPS mods deliberately upload fake speed camera databases? Otherwise I can't see how a copy of the database uploaded by a member would differ from the original.

    >Incidentally the P2P versions released often have cameras in such places as the North Sea<

There were cameras located in the North Sea well before the GPSWorld owners decided to do a little profiteering on the back of the people who had submitted camera details.

IMHO this idea that each download is traceable is a load of tosh. (And no, I'm not using the P2P as I got a lifetime membership from uploading camera info before GPSWorld went commercial)
  • If you want a FREE speedcamera safety site try
    https://www.roadangelmobile.co.uk

This will work on Nokia phones with symbian software.
The download is free and the subs are £3 per month,
very reasonable as it is the best speed camera/ blackspot
    alerter on the market

Lets just say i know the owners have taken steps to protect their rights. Past threads on their forum mentioned this activity.
