Driving Behaviour

Why is it that you can be driving along a duel carriageway at 70 MPH and there is always some prat that comes up your a*se to get in front (just in front) not even to go a lot faster.

I have noticed this happens most around 3.30 - 4 pm possibly being let out of purgatory (work) early though sometimes at other times too.

Is that they are so used to killing each other at work through competion the first time they think they have any real power they want to kill others on the road

Don't let it get to you. I have learned to pull over and let them pass to get caught up behind someone else further along. It's not worth the hassle.

I seem to attract people who overtake then immediately slow down. WHY?

I then end up overtaking them because they are now going slower than I was when originally overtaken.

I wouldn't worry about it. I spend all day every day on the motorway network and I see far worse than that all the time.

Most days I see at least 2 incidents of foreign lorries that have sideswiped cars in their blind spot and push them 2 or 3 hundred yards down the road.

That's by far a bigger worry than being balked by someone who's just overtaken you.

I would question why you didn't see them coming and move over?
Fair enough I tend to drive no faster than the limits, but I do get the odd person who doesn't know what an NSL sign means, decides to enforce their 50 limit on everyone else and refuse to move over into a gap. Tactic for these is to sit in the left hand lane and wait for the next speed camera, maintain speed and hey presto (they brake and nobody else does) :)

However many/most do move over and are rewarded with a single hazards flash as a little "thx". I think if we all thanked others for their kindness a little more, we could go back to the way driving was 15 or more years ago.

I do move over but these prats come up so quickly - why do they need to be infront?

That's their choice, if they want to put themselves at risk, then let them....

I don't like following other vehicles at speed, one wrong move, one car turning left/right without indication, one idiot braking for a speed camera (when they don't need to) and you can VERY quickly find yourself in situation.
Whilst yes you may have left a good gap in which to stop with plenty of space, the serveral tonnes of metal behind you might not.... That's a metal sandwich with you as the sauce.

I have a friend who lost both his parents in an accident where they were following a bin lorry, it stopped suddenly, they stopped, the car behind stopped, the 7.5 tonner behind that didn't. The impact pushed the car in under the bin lorry, ripping off the roof as it went.

I can't say that everyone else thinks of such things, but it's certainly why I prefer an open road ahead.

it's quite possible that due to inaccuracy on many cars your speedo reads 70mph when you are in fact travelling at just over 60mph. if the other motorists are in a hurry and want to waste fuel then let em:money:

Its just how it is OP, some are prats, some over take you and then indicate to come off at next exit so why overtake. I dont do this pulling over business, if some twonk is tail gating me on a single lane road then thats his choice he can either keep calm or overtake and be a prat and overtake.
