Thanks guys for all your lovely kind words today - they've really made me feel better. :grouphug: It's nice to have such kind friends on here. I must admit i did manage to get a little of my own back this afternoon, her and another friend were discussing how long until Xmas and that they should really start trying to put some £ away for it...so I got to pipe up 'I've started already, in fact I started putting money away for this Xmas last Dec' :D Childish I know, but made me feel better ;)

Jinty - glad to hear your mouth is slowly improving. Have you tried mashed potato? A guy at work resorted to that when he had a tooth out that went icky.
MM7 - sounds like you've made great progress with the house :T

Stapler - I have found a great incentive to making my own sarnies (aside from the fact I make OH as he doesn't really work nearby anywhere to get one) is having a look at all the salf and fat added to shop sarnies. At least with homemade ones you can control what goes in them. It might not be totally MSE, or the really healthy option, but what about getting a pre-made sandwich filler from a supermarket to ease yourself in? I also find that left overs from the night before - like pasta, are great to take for lunch when sarnies get a bit dull.

No NSD for me - and a bit of a flop spendwise. Went to B**ts to check out some of the bargains from the Grabbit but nothing that caught my eye.
Went to Mr S to look for the cheap toothpaste - none there, they did have some reduced toothbrushes but none of those either (did buy some blueberries and HP for OH though)
Went to Mr M when I drove past tonight for 50p 1% milk, it's now £1.47 and none left anyway.
Stopped at L1dl to get the 24 x Cushelle for £6.99 - and the offer has finished
:mad: pretty frustrating all round really but a good way not to spend I suppose :D

Right, talking of sarnies - off to make tomorrows. xx Thanks again folks for making me feel loved today x :A

Stapler - peanut butter sarnies....now you're talking! Protein, fat, carbohydrate - add a banana for the minerals and fibre and you have all your daily requirements in one tasty lunch. Better than a soggy limp sarnie from the sarnieshop!

I think I'll pass on the adding the Banana to the Sandwich, but I will definately be making my own sandwichs from now on. Hopefully quickly rack up a few NSD's in the meantime.

Cheese, Ham and Pickle Sandwiches for tomorrow. Fingers crossed for the NSD.

I am determined to avoid the Sandwich shop today.

I know I could make them at home for a lot less but I tried that last night and failed miserably(sp).

And also walking past it in the morning makes me crave a warm sausage and bacon baguette. Uh Oh, I thinking today might turn into a spend day.
Speaking as a Sandwich Spendie Vice Girl (god that sounds awful).
The better cook you are, with regard to ingredients, recipes etc the more chance you have of swiping the gustatory crown from them and plonk it firmly on your head.
It is good to go to Mr T knowing I can do a better job on some items but sometimes the little swearwords get to you.
So maybe I need to up my MSE Gourmet game as well and I have an established reputation everyhwere in the wouldbeohsphere as a fantastic cook and I am blessed and highly favoured with a family who takes pride in their cooking abilities.:money:

    NSD3 for me today please:j
If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

    £2 savings jar £300:D
Total credit card debts £1250:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: - Will I ever learn!!
  • A little taste and education in taste goes a long way when it comes down to nabbing the bargains cos at least you know you will enjoy it and better still others will too meaning less waste etc. ( I live in a deprived socio-economic situation with middle class background shamelessly nourishing me with regards to taste, qaulity and shock horror money saving!!!)

  • No NSD at all in any way remotely today as walk of 1.2miles ended up in weight lifting of walking distance between me and the pesky but advantageous Mr T's.( loads of supermarkets competing for trade good! waitrose being the star turn).

  • Sprozza and Queen bess - welcome to the asylum! Solvent Soon (aka Spoon) will no doubt be along later to officially add you to the list.

Stapler - wash your mouth out with soap, you naughty creature! We do not use the f word here - we just say we did not quite manage a NSD this time but will definitely catch some more before the month is out.

Spendy day for me today, odds and ends bought in town. However I did have a play with my essential oils today - made some spray cologne and some scented body butter. And Igor did not get anywhere near the stuff so it's safe to use.

Keep the NSDs rolling in, everyone is doing really well - even if you just have 1 NSD it's a start! And if you have zero - well, the month is yet young so there's time to catch up yet.

Kippers are indeed working - though won't be a NSD today - but a planned spend and I'm hoping to rival Cheryl again ;) (oh...and shhhh...but it involves toilet rolls!)

Is it silly I am still feeling somewhat hurt by my friends comments today? This might sound lame but it's not what she said, but the way she said it. We all mess about sometimes and call each other silly things but this didn't feel like messing around. What's also annoying me is that I have taken her cinema card in the past (ok not often as I don't go to the pics very frequently) in order to collect points for her on that. Which to me is somewhat double standards.

I don't know whether I'm making a mountain out of a molehill and should just leave it to blow over, or say something...? :(

    Hi kerri
I saw your post earlier but didn't have time to reply.

Your friend probably didn't even realise you'd been upset by her comment, she probably thought of it a just a throwaway remark. We're all so different and interpret things in different ways - put two people in one room listening to the same thing and they'll hear it differently. If she's a good friend I'd be tempted to leave it for now until you're feeling less hurt and maybe tell her then that she upset you - you can do it logically then and without the risk of any emotion creeping in. Human emotions make life tricky sometimes..... but the world would be a much less interesting place without them.

I like the remark you made today though, good for you:T

  • My Sandwich/Bread Delights are Sardine Butter on Toast (wholemeal readymade decent tasty bread) Sardines in oil drained mixed with juice of fresh lemon mix in butter of choice (no marg!!!) smother on toast, enjoy. Quick as hell delicious as heaven.
Mackeral in tomato sauce Tesco add Cayenne Hot Sauce Tesco yummy on buttered toast yummy. ( I am a butter girl cooks fundamental ingredient and only use real fresh ingredients unless otherwise).
Egg and Salad yummy Yummy sliced bread, two free range eggs large boiled to cheffy hardness no solid yolks here please we want cooked enough! no rubber allowed, combine with hellmans, I am naughty and trim of excess whites to get double yolk. Mix in fresh lettuce, onion, tomato for divine Egg Sandwich. Lime pickle is divine in Egg Salad Sandwich. Nigel Slater Real Fast food inspiration.
Homemade Rice Bread Jane Grigson in breadmaker organic flour white and rice makes sublime toast and is wicked with roast chicken.
Cheese always begs for salad I now use Veggie Cheddar as a respect to my Scottish friend. Use a finely chopped branston or Red Chilli jam, or piccalili, or indian pickles .
Leftover Cooked Roast or poached chicken again begs for salad with mayo on delicious bread and butter, enjoy.
Chickpeas to make into Falefal got to make but will be irrestible once I nab recipe.
Quesadillas with tin of Red kidney beans fresh chilli onions tomatos perhaps cummin? garlic. smother on preferably large Corn Tortillas from freezer, cook 10 mins, with grated cheese hmmm, add fresh avocado, tomato, onion for veggie delight.
A little bit of my insufficient armoury which needs strengthening. And in life the right place for indulgence, extravagance etc ie Champagne, real expensive Coffee etc much to be tempted by in Foodie Land. Also much to help MSE brilliance!!
