  • Well, I never knew that area of Truro was called Redannick - we've always referred to it as Chapel town! Yes, that is quite a nice area although parking can be bad. Chapel Hill (even with some of its lovely houses) has had its fair few problems over the last 5 years, including a Brothel and a Drugs den though! One of the local Councillors lives in that area.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

Be careful you don't panic buy - the wrong place. Have you considered renting, maybe for 6 months until the right place becomes available? Just a thought... Would also put you in better situation to buy if your a cash buyer

Hi Sured, sorry just got back online,
I would personally stay away from Highertown, its not that great there and traffic through Truro is an absolute nightmare, also I dont know Helston that well so cannot comment.

Bear in mind that houses priced way above £250000 you can get for a lot less than asking price as it is a really slow market down here, take absolutley no notice of what the estate agents say (although that would be the same everywhere I guess).
I would be looking at houses priced at around the £275000 mark.
The best thing that you can do is travel around the areas, you will see immediatly if you would want to live there, thats what we did and view as many houses as you can, we ended up in a dormar bungalow, which is massive looks small from the outside and is huge inside.
I would view all houses that are around your budget and above, it will give you a much better Idea of what you want.

    Good luck

    The Beacon esate.

I've never lived in Falmouth but used to visit a lot, and the Beacon was the one area of Falmouth that had a bad reputation. I know someone who used to live there who had lots of problems with feral teenagers.

And Old Hill adjoining it. But as it's a council estate, you probably wouldn't be buying there anyway. As someone else said, even the "bad bits" are nothing like inner city bad bits.

The search continues. Yes, I am looking above my max on the premise of negotiating, but even so............. One I thought would be perfect went under FULL ASKING PRICE offer half an hour before I was due to view...... I think Highertown is pretty much off the list now judging by the number of properties that have come onto the market.

Still, if there's anyone out there who knows Helston and could advise on good/bad areas within...........

    Thanks
