OS Daily Thread Saturday July 2nd

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 2nd July 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone,
(Hugs) to all in need of them.
Up bright and early to get DS ready for Duke of Edinburgh expedition.
Sun is shining and WM is on.
Spending today taking kids here there and everywhere and tonight I am off to a friends engagement party, should be a good party as lots of my friends are going and I feel like a boogie!
Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Good morning Moorhen and all to follow,
Beautiful morning here, fresh and sunny.
We are having a quiet morning so I am hoping to get some house clearing done. Also need to do some music practice for church tomorrow.
Am about to strip some beds and get washing on and out.
Veggies are doing well - but our runner beans are only about 2cm long at the moment.
Dinner tonight will be Thai chicken curry for the 8 of us, a firm favourite:)
Hugs to all those who need or want,
Cheers, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Good Morning Moorhen and all who follow ,beautiful sunny morning today .No food shopping to buy but I am out and about today .first I will pick DD up and drop her off in Chatham at 0.8.15 as she has to pick her company car up as she is working at another branch next week. Then back home for some breakfast and a feet up for a little while The 12,00 I pick youngest dgs up and take him for his MaccyD treat then back to pick his two siblings up by 1.00 .We are going to their school fete for a couple of hours then around to the library so they can choose their books and home by around 4.40.Hopefully I can then clock off and come home to do some catch-up hoovering as my sitting room is a bit on the dusty side.I also have to make some oaty bars for the boys for their packed lunches next week as DD is working all day today and it helps her out a bit .Tonight I am going to sit and watch the two episodes of The Kennedys that I missed last night with a big pot of tea and some HM fruit cake (a little me time I think ) so all in all a fairly full day.I will try to organise one of my tins cupboards as well today if I can as I need to see whats left and stock rotate I am going to do my monthly meal plan as well if I can today as I am hoping to spend very little in July foodwise as we are away on holiday next month so any extra I can save goes towards it,plus of course its time the cupboards had a good turn out.I type and print my stores and stick to the inside of the door so I can see at a glance whats in there I have a feeling I have several bits that have been bought twice over the past 6 months so its time to sort it all out.
Hope everyone has a good day and if your down or blue have a <<Hug>>

Morning my lovelies
Lovely, lovely sunshine hereyet another kids party today (think we have one every weekend for the next three weeks )
then the usual pottering about, endless tidying up.
Won a load of stash at school fete last night (football, colouring pencils, chocolate coin maker, 10 pk playdoh, golf balls (don't even play golf LOL) and a Fondant Cake Maker - all brand new). DS has been nagging and nagging about wanting to "play" with them so think this afternoon I shall have to have a go with them.
Not sure about tea, kids will have pizza on left over HM tortillas although I need to get some tom puree for it. Had HM chicken fahjitas (sp?) last night and they were lush
Hugs and spoons all round. Have a great day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning all
I was awake just before 7am, not happy with that! Would have liked a little lie in! Anyway, it's looking nice outside, bit of mist but that should burn off soon.
No plans for day really, not going shopping with girls as one of them has a Christening to go to. But think we are going to cinema tonight to see Bridesmaids. So today I intend on a mixture of sunbathing and sorting stuff out - need to move some money around and tidy up finances, file paperwork away and start packing and de-cluttering for when I move. I also want to look for a new laptop, mine is quite old and runs off mains only so when I move in with my friend I want one that works properly. A new battery for mine is £80-£100 so may as well just get new laptop. Any suggestions will be welcomed!
OS wise - WM been on and washing now on airer on balcony. May do 2nd load today if this one dries quick enough. Need to tidy and hoover throughout. Need to ue up some of my fresh stuff cos I'm away Mon to Thurs with work.
Have a good Saturday all

Morning all
Up by 6 here, WM & DW both finished, washing on the line & next load in, DW waiting to be emptied.
I have all 3 DGC here soon as DD & SIL are both working, should be interesting, they ar 7, 3 & 6 months, I have the travel cot up ready & a bag of dolly mixtures, as DGD1 says 'I like nanna's house, she has yummy stuff'!
No real plans for today apart from whatever housework I can fit in around the children, I'm not too worried though, I break up in 3 weeks & can do housework then!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,
Bright beautiful day here, wm is doing its thing, should all dry quickly today, I am just waiting for a call from dd to say she wants collecting from the station, they all stayed at a friends last night after the prom, and had a jacuzzi and drinks in the garden, will get all the gory details later.
As I said last night, I have had a falling out with my mum, we had arranged for her to come here at 6 to see dd off, i found out yesterday that we could go to the prom venue and see them all arriving, I thought mum would like this more, so tried to phone her all afternoon to let her know, anyhoo she turned up at 6, and I asked her if she would prefer to go down to the venue to see al the girls / cars etc, and she turned round and stormed off, when I phoned her later, she said that I was the most selfish person that she had ever met, and that she would never come in my house again, and that I was not welcome in hers, and please dont call herI did call again and went up to see her, but she is furious with me, she seems to think I did not want her here, and that I was keeping dd from her, in the end I just had to say to her, that I was sorry if she thought I had done wrong, but it really was not my intention, and that she could contact me if she wanted to. I am all a bit confused by it all, apparantly she had had a really bad visit with my dad in hospital and was very stressed, but I genuinly thought she would enjoy the venue more.
So it sort of put a downer on the whole evening for me, luckily dd did not know any of this, it just makes me so cross after all I have done for mum, and my brother and sister do so little
Anyhoo sorry to go on, will wait and see what today brings,
Dinner tonight is the chilli bumped from last night, by the time I had got back from mums it was after 8, so OH ran up and got us a takeaway. Need to have a quick tidy through and clean kitchen.
Have fun all, and sorry for going on
Hugs to Jackie O, Jackie G and Lou xx0 -
Hugs Redruby xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

Morning All,
Its gorgeous here today.:)
Redruby, have a {{{hug}}}, sounds like your mum was really stressed, but there's no excuse for having a tantrum is there? Hopefully she will wake up and see she was being silly, and call and apologise. xxx PS just saw the photos, the looked very cool.
Hospital went OK, the doctor was a bit evasive IMO and really didn't want to discuss the cancer as its not his speciality; he was inferring that the oncologist would give all the info on that, and deflecting those questions. We did get answers about why it has taken so long to get the diagnosis though, and find that much more acceptable, although I am still not 100% convinced, it will be interesting to see what the oncologist says, because I thinks it important that someone be held accountable if any mistakes have been made and there are lessons to be learned from it. He did say something quite telling about, what's done is done and its time to move on. hmmm.
OS for today, husband is off this weekend, and no footie for DS, so I have a few small DIY jobs for him, I am letting him sleep on today as long as he needs as he is looking exhausted though. I am going to do some gardening, and housework, and some baking now I have a working oven, I need to finish my mealplan, and shopping list for during the week. Back on the low carbing properly now I have full kitchen facilities again, yoghurt and berries for breakfast today.
Have a great day everyone, and take care.
