You shouldn't have to for the wireless connection and you are accessing the TP-L now by LAN. However, to be doubly sure in LAN select 'Type' to 'Static IP,' type in 192.168.1.254 for IP Address, 255.255.255.0 for subnet mask and 192.168.1.33 for Gateway and 'Save'.

The TP-L is 'seeing' the router wirelessly which is how it picks up the router's SSID when you survey. So your problem now is you either have the MAC filtering wrong in your router or the security setting wrong in your TP-L.

Are you using WPA2-PSK/AES in your router or something different?

Before you do that, disconnect the ethernet cable from the router and check you can still access the TP-L from your web browser.

Could you please explain the advantages of Serviio. I have the same set up as you and can access all my media files without Serviio.

Sorry chaps, feel guilty piling in the middle of your woes...

I can access all my files without Serviio but it keeps the same folder structure as on my PC.
The files have a generic icon (named of course) but all the movies have the same default icon.

With Serviio, a connection is made to IMDB (or others) and the cover art is downloaded automatically (the same as you see the DVD's on the shelf in Blockbuster).
The Films are automatically sorted by Genre, Actor, Year (however you choose).

TV series are automatically sorted into Season folders with a screengrab from within the episode showing as the icon instead of the cover art.

Essentially it looks pretty impressive but of course, the movie just plays the same as it would using the standard Windows Media Server.

Don't know what you mean by that?

If you can still access the TP-L from your PC's web browser with the ethernet cable between the TP-L and the router removed, then you are connecting wirelessly OK.

What you now need to do is connect the ethernet cable between the TP-L and the TV and then set up the network access in your TV's menu. Let me know how that goes.

Hopefully you're off and enjoying iPlayer on your newly internet enabled TV.

Another suggestion for you - you mentioned earlier that your router is set up with WEP. Not a good idea, it's not very secure. If it and all your wireless device connected to it have WPA2 available you should change to that. You need to change it in the router first and then each of the devices. To change it in the TP-Link you would need to connect it by ethernet cable to the router again.
