How about now? You could put on Malwarebytes and activate the 14 day trial (for the realtime guard).
Personally, I would just reinstall since it's presumably new.
Not sure exactly how it ended up installing AVG, but try the AVG remover to get rid of any remnants:
http://www.avg.com/gb-en/download-tools
and manually delete these folders:
c:\users\maryg43\AppData\Roaming\AVG10
c:\programdata\AVG10
c:\program files\AVG0
