You really are in the dark ages. We don't say benefit anymore we say ' Financial Entitlement Calculation' and we don't even say claimant now, we say 'customer'.

I've had this business of 'demonstrating' something ridiculous like 'impact on others' etc. Of course everyone should be concerned about their 'impact on others' - of course - but how do you demonstrate it? Ie prove it with examples. The other thing we seemed to have, despite it's not being a shop, were 'customers'. Actually, no, they were bosses. They acted like bosses, treated you like bosses, earned loads of money like bosses do and gave you performance appraisals - like bosses. For other people we dealt with, they were colleagues - they were not customers. So private sector has incorporated these confusing Americanisms too. If people are upset about being called 'claimants' - well, presumably it's temporary until their circumstances change ...0

I think you need to go on a language refresher course.
We call them "service users" now.

My friend works for a housing association, and the employees started (playfully) insulting eachother by calling one another 'service users' in emails. The chief exec found out and went mad.0 -

In my experience of the public sector if anyone from the private sector applies they have their arms bitten off, unless their skills really dont fit or its obvious the lack of career progression, stifling organisational inertia, rubbish salaries and pervasive low morale wouldn't suit them.
Its going the other way thats the problem.0
