0844 is defo 8p per minute with Tesco Lite.

I know as I have and use that sim.

It may just be 0843 numbers that fall outside the 8p bracket. Never had to call one yet, but I know they're out there waiting!

Thanks for all the replies, but to clarify slightly. I'm looking for a way to call from a landline, I did check saynoto0870 but this is one of the surgeries who even saynoto0870 doesn't have any public record of underlying numbers.

It seems there isn't a viable call through to get around 0844 from a Virgin landline...

The way the real numbers for these surgeries are found is usually by a chance observation or a friend of a member of staff (who undoubtedly know the real numbers) being persuaded to divulge them.

ISTR that, on one occasion, a notice to staff on a board just behind the the reception desk had a list of each extension and their DDI equivalents and someone with good eyesight made a mental note of one or two to get the ball rolling to identify the important ones.

The Saynoto0870 database is a place where we can all add numbers we find, thus pooling our resources.

This means that if there is no entry for a particular organisation, it's because no one has looked and has been successful in finding an alternative which they chose to share.

If you don't look, then you will never find.

I dont quite understand your post, as I said, I have checked Saynoto0870, but it's a number that saynoto0870 say the following about:

I made the posting on Saynoto0870 over four years ago; I am the site's moderator "Dave".

The site lists around 100 of these NEG/TalkTalk 0844 numbers, so it's not impossible. I have found out numbers that weren't previously listed.

The point is that because a number isn't listed in the Saynoto0870 database does not mean it can't be found. We can only say it can be found once we've found it.
