So what you are actually saying is, it won't work with a non Virgin SIM?
In which case he's not bricked it, he's just failed to unlock it.
If so, go back and ask him to do it properly, or give you your £15 back.

My mobile cannot be unlocked by codes so I bought a little circuit board that fit's between the phone & the SIM which unlocked it from the BT network,cost me £5.

Don't forget to add it does not work with every kind of handset though does it?

The OP has a Samsung, I know a couple of shops had tried to unlock a motorola by the method you described and it didn't work the 3rd shop plugged it into a laptop and hey presto sim unlocked :beer:
