Tax expired yesterday, auto fine?

Hi Found out my dad is taxing his car today but it expired yesterday. (He forgot June has only 30 days). I'm panicking on his behalf because I'm worried about the automatic fine (he really can't afford it - that's another story). Will he get fined even though it's half a day late?

There is a very good reason for this. Some peoples insurance expires either on the same day the tax disc does (or a day or two before). The insurance certificate normally takes a day or two to arrive in the post. Without insurance certificate you can't get a tax disc.

I had that problem, so I bought 6 months tax instead of 12 as a one off.

I no longer have that problem.
