  • Ctc, why not go for a mooncup (or other brands) . Saves u lots. It did take me a while to get used to it, so the pads may come in handy for a while.

Weather been horrible here, trees falling down etc, but the new fancy school across from me STILL had the kids out doing p.e.... felt really sorry for them yesterday out in shorts n polo shirts ! Soaked to the bone!

Made cauliflower n cheese last night, well proud as I made the sauce myself n it was great!

  • I love reading this thread, as it gets me back on track...especially lately, as i really do need to rein in on the spending, well not so much rein it in, as we dont spend loads, just get back on track with my food shopping etc..

Now do you think this would be taking being frugal a bit too far, or would you do it?

Where i work, we get old handbags etc, which ladies havent emptied out propely, so they still have indivdual sealed packs of their sanatery pads in there... I am going to starting keeping them for myself, as this will save me a few quid a month.... now i do feel as 'should i, shouldnt i' but they are still in their wraps etc... was just wondering would you do something like this, if you were in my position?

Sorry did you say OLD HANDBAGS???? I loooooooove old handbags the vintage 40s kelly bags and have a collection in a glass case in my bedroom. I have named them all :o Audrey being my Favourite :o

A woman I used to work with had THE OP lol and had no further use for her pads or tampax. I always suffer and was seen once a month (every three weeks in my case) dashing off to the loo and coming back out in a different pair of trousers :rotfl: This lady (who I did not know that well) brought me in a carrier bag FULL of tampax etc No boxes just full of tampax!!. There must have been quite a few quids worth if not at least £200. I was really grateful as it saved me a fortune. I did not particularly know her or anything but they were all sealed.

    Hello fellow frugallers:j
Much travelling done here of late at GBT to get myself signed on with some agencies. Unfortunately I didn't get the job I was interviewed for last week but they gave me positive feedback without my asking and I apparently came across as very capable. It was my first ever formal interview and there were 3 of them so I can at least take away something positive.

Had a jolly on Saturday- met a chum and went to Tate Britain. She very kindly treated me to lunch as an early birthday present and I did so enjoy it. We stayed for a free talk on the artist Edward Burra who I'd never heard of. He reminded me of Beryl Cook- I dug out my books by her when I got home. They can't fail to cheer me up.

Everyday spends incurred here - like another interview blouse for £2.50 and more wool but nothing too horrendous. Mr GB spotted a bargain on fresh peaches last week so we now have a demijohn of peach wine bubbling away:D Have just put on some soup made up from the left over SC casserole and veg yesterday. Smells very moreish!

PS With regards to ladies products- I've just freecycled an unopened box of tampons as I no longer have need of them. They're a necessity and not a cheap product to buy. I used up my sisters's spares when she went over to a mooncup [probably tmi:o] but it's waste not want not in our family!

I've put my foot in it too many times on this thread to come back full time but I just wanted to post this link seeing as I know many of you have probs with cheap detergents

I'm so sorry for the probs I caused earlier this year but there's too many of you to individually email so those that don't have me on iggie might want to repost for the others....

I now realise the errors of my ways but like I said I think a good 50-80% of the thread has me on iggie so there's no point in coming back

Pads are really easy to make, there are loads of instructions on the net, or mooncups are great but when I was a tad younger and less menopausal I used a sponge for the first day and a mooncup for the other days.
sorry if it's TMI :-) have a look at moontimes.co.uk for loads of washable pads if you are not up to sewing any, they save heaps of money!
  • NSD, was at school all day setting up a games library so I got school dinner for free, and I'm going to be paid for my time, they said to invoice them but I said I'd charge minimum wage :-)
  • Hi everyone

Welcome to all newbies or people returning to us

Here at frugal towers it is quite sunny today which makes a nice change from yesterday I went for the interview last Friday but haven’t heard anything yet to be fair they did say later this week I had a nice quiet weekend and 3 NSDS in a row :T:T

Last night I went for a walk down to the local village and picked up chicken drumsticks in bbq sauce (75p), plum baby tomatoes ( 38P), and a loaf of bread perfect for bread pudding ( 17p) so some great finds there in Mr T might do it again in the next few days the walk will help with the half stone challenge after all !

Put the slow cooker on with mince yesterday which was welcome after my walk

Lola ; there is a greek dish that uses lamb mince - I just carnt remember what its called right now

Erme : nice to have heard from you I hope you are keeping well

Hope everyone is ok have a good few days
    Emma :hello:
