Should be a no spend day for me off to a wedding this afternoon which should be nice!

Seem to have put the few pounds I'd lost back on though so hope I don't have too much of a tummy in my dress.

Managed to rustle up an outfit with what I had although I do have new shoes that I bought a while back.
Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.

I hear the next sale is on Saturday 16th July...so next Saturday might not be too frugal either, but that's ok, as long as there is at least 50% off everything :)

Hmmmmm...... I've been told (on another forum) that it's the following weekend

Am trying to talk myself out going for a look-see as I really don't need anything else just now ;)

When I visit BF in Oxford he sometimes drags me to the Next Clearance shop. Usually at Christmas some of my presents/his daughters presents are things he has found in Next. Mind you thats not as bad as it sounds, becuase surprisingly he has bought some of my favourite clothes from there. I dont need any new clothes at all.
I made myself a dress out of one of his shirts yesterday. Well over the last two evenings. (See my home page for a picture. Not that its a brilliant picture.). I have also got a dress cut out, maxi dress that I want finished for my birthday. Just need to get some lining fabric for it. So I am not sure to hang on until tomorrow/monday to order, as I was hoping to have a no spend day today!.:o or do we class the spend as the day it goes out of our bank accounts? (Is that cheating-probably!!!).
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

I count the day I order as the spend day, as I have no control over when the money goes out of the bank. If I counted the days it was actually taken, then shopping with 3 stores on one day could lose me 3 potential NSDs if they all clear on different days :o

Just got my car insurance renewal. Premium last year was £321.10, and renewal (with no changes to the policy whatsoever) is £379.86 - an increase of a staggering 18.3%

At this rate my annual insurance is soon going to cost me more than I spend on petrol in a year, even with the price of that having gone up so much

I am still rather scared to get a grip on my budget. I know that that is a terrible confession on here! But I just have left it since March, and now dont think I can face going back over all the bank accounts, and knowing that I have overspent on things by a very long margin.
The fact that its burying my head in the sand at the precisely wrong time, is daft, but I just cannot seem to bring myself to face it.!!
I am not in any new debts or anything. Except the same old Fuel bills.
I do still have money in my bank accounts, and no overdrafts, with a small amount in savings of £500. But I know that that will not be enough. As I was paying my bills as they came in. So car insurance, and things like that all paid annually. That saying its now only a month away from my car insurance. So I think I have just realised reading your post that I have left it a bit late, and that I am going to have to face the music. EEEEKK

Well i spend about £2000 a year on insurance right now..petrol about £1800!!!!

Both due to come down, first one down to around £1,000 and second down to £1,200 hopefully!!

I have been working to a budget recently but not the most strict...may change that and note it all down in a thread on here. Need to go the rest of the year as frugal as i can and get rid of some debts. Then i can stay in my frugal habits and save save save
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Tried to go to a car boot but it was off due to wet ground, so drove home a different way and spotted a new 'tipshop' in a small village... And they had a Tupperware set that I've been wanting for years:D, and a water butt!!:) They also had a little cupboard from the 1930s that amazingly enough matches one a friend gave me that was her mums! Plus 2canvases i can give as baby presents and two plates all for £15.00. I'm very happy!:j:j

Ps. I definitely have my head in the sand over my car insurance.

Just catching up with the posts. Hi & welcome to any Newbie's. Saw the post on hampers for the festivity that shall not be mentioned until after the summer holidays! I used to make hampers from my DM & DMiL with small pots of jam, mincemeat, a little christmas cake & a small christmas pud plus anything else that I could find. They both used to come to us for Christmas so I'd send them home withg their 'goody bags' (plus some cold turkey!) for when they got home. I think everyone really appreciates something home made.
Lola - loved your little Turtle & Dinosaur they're gorgeous. I answered an ad in my local craft shop to teach a disabled girl to crochet. She's doing well but because of her disability can only manage about 10 minutes. She wants to make a blanket for her newborn neice so I've promised her for every stitch she does I'll do a row for her - otherwise the baby will have left school before its finished!! She gets so excited & pleased to see me makes me feel quite humble.
Tumpty - went on a Sun break years ago to a Haven camp in Cornwall - bit shabby but it was cheap & a break away from home & routine. Use the old adage - hope for the best prepare for the worst! I'm sure it will all be fine & I hope you have a great time with your boy
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
