Welcome Mrs B and any other newbies. :) You've taken a great step in joining this site, cos you'll get loads of ideas for frugal living, from others with children the same age, and some marvellous help.

Don't feel downhearted and try to do everything at once. Think of it like bricks to build a wall, and say each week you can do one money saving thing, like buying a cheaper brand of baked beans, well that's one brick!

The next week, you might go on light-switch-alert, in an effort to save electricity, and that's another brick. Before you know it, you'll have built the Great Wall of China!

    Good Luck.

    :hello: evening everyone :)

Still plodding along here; had some lovely chicken fajitas with salad for tea followed by a slice of HM tea loaf :) yum! Nothing exciting to report really, just getting on with work and relaxing in the evening. Still trying to find another job, not much going at the moment though.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

DH and I always look in skips:rotfl: it may cost more in insurance payouts though as he does not always concentrate fully when he sees one:rotfl:

Hi MrsB It must be really difficult if you can't get DH on the same wave length. I am lucky that my DH is totally on board and we talk through ways together. It has taken us four years to get this far;) Some times we both have cave in moments but it is ok unless we have them both at the same time:D

    Lola well done x

Finally finished painting the fence:j been at it since 11am:mad: bought two cheap £2.99 tubs from B&M as I did not want to spend over £20 on one name brand tin.........kicked myself all day on choosing the money saving option but DH came home and has helped finish it off:o I do not want to see a paint brush for a long, long time:rotfl:

The kittens are going to be three weeks old tomorrow and they are huge already. They sleep on a blanket on the floor (mum did not want to be in a box and decided she wanted to move) They are just at that age where they walk to the edge of the blanket and when one paw goes onto the floor they move back as if they are going to fall off the edge of the world:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I know if I stopped watching them I may get some jobs done but I can't help it:o

Must have a more productive day tomorrow;)

yes to skips, and pallets are great fire wood, bash one corner of a pallet onto the ground to break it up.
I start collecting firewood around August so it has time to dry out for the winter.

Argh!!! I've received a letter today calling me in to work for a formal sickness absence interview... I havnt been sick since April!!!:mad:

Rules say I should get 5 working days notice... It's tomorrow! Sent on thurs, received today... My maths is bad but even I can't make that add up to 5 working days!!

And as in my last job here i only worked 3 days a week to hit the 10 days in a year that's nearly 4 weeks!!!! You think I'd have noticed that! I had 2 in march due to inner ear infection, and 3 in dec due to swine flu... So now I'm paranoid I've forgotten any... Way to ruin my evening:( .

I reckon it's my new job boss just being a b$&ch and trying to cause trouble on my permanent record... Since her warning to me 2 weeks ago I've been ahead of deadlines and acted very "confident" and as "shiney" as I could manage.

Sorry for venting here... I am really worried she wants me out of the job, and have no one else to talk to.:( sorry. I do feel kinda better getting 'my' side out. Thanks.

DH has one of those at work as well. First day back at work after being on a course and she has started. The c0w even sends him Emails when she is two desks away and then chases him down to ask why he never answered.........been away two week you would think she would have noticed

The mega b$@ch (as she is known to her non friends) is useless at her job and hates the fact everyone waits for DH so she tries to look good by organising Email after Email. She is one of those that gets all her underlings to confide in her about any personal probs and any issues they have with other workers then she uses it all and plays everyone against each other. DH refuses to play these games and she does not like it.

DH is getting a new Lord and blinkin master at the end of August who will be her boss, DH has just found out it is a very good friend of his so hopefully the sun will be shining again very soon, DH says he has forgotten to tell her:rotfl::rotfl:.

I have been out of the rat race for nearly a year now......can't say I miss it:rotfl: I always found that on my sickness review it never hurts to ask them if they are ill or if they haven't been sleeping:rotfl::rotfl: (nice way of suggesting they look like carp without getting into trouble) Sometimes being overly nice and saying oooh I don't know how you cope doing your job it must be so stressful and ignoring the questioning on you works wonders ;) any how good luck xxxx

Usually I do ask about skips, yes, and most people are only too happy to get rid of the contents, but if nobody comes to the door and there's a lovely big piece of wood sticking out.... ;)

I'm always careful not to mess up the skip or otherwise inconvenience the owners.

It sounds as if word has got back that you said she intimidated you. It's an awkward situation...can't remember if I asked this before, is there a union at your workplace? Good luck...
