This site sells foam circles and a 15cm x 15cm x 7cm (suitable for a large cake) is 75p don't know how much postage is but that seems reasonable. If you wanted a sliced cake you could then cut it down with an electric carving knife.

    thefoamshop.co.uk/product/176-32/REFLEX-400--MEDIUM-FIRM-CIRCLE-MAX-THICKNESS--15-CM-IF-OVER-PLEASE-COST-AS-CYLINDER

I made a little cupcake like the ones in the kits that another poster mentioned and it came out quite nice for a first attempt but I still can't post a pic I think.

Phew , I was worried you would all scoff at me for even bothering to mention thin felt.

Oh dear sorry you ended up spending so much. It has been very hit & miss finding the felt in poundland, it's with all the crafty stuff, I wouldn't say it's worth going out of your way, but if your passing poundland worth having a wee nosey.

hehe no problems i would have had to buy the felt anyway i did ask about it today and the lady said they did have some but it went fast

Hi  Something I did sucessfully with white felt was to do an inkjet transfer using those t-shirt iron on transfers you can get.

Yep, thats on white felt! I expect you could do it on any colour of felt but white probably works best. Useful for personalised objects - just create what you want on the computer and print onto the transfer paper. Iron onto the felt using the instructions given for materials.

I think you need to do about 20-25 posts before you can post photos BTW.

Wow, just stumbled accross this thread......and I'm sooo glad I did!

Those rose barettes look gorgeous, and the larger flower clips do too.

I've been inspired from this thread to make something felty for my friend's upcoming birthday, which up until now, I've been totally stumped for. Think I'm going to make something like the roses/and or flowers into some sort of handbag dangler. Or a brooch. Ah, and SIL can have something felty for her b'day, too! :) Oh yeah, guess what this year's present 'theme' is going to be?!

Not very good pic, but the black thing attached to the sock monkey is a felt dog :rotfl:

And the owl's (it's a door stop/book end) eyes and wings are felt too. No doubt the whole thing could be made from felt...

Chaos Monkey - this is an old thread but thanks for resurrecting it!! I love felt but love needle felting more than using sheet felt!

Such a shame your pic's didn't show up, would love to see the owl, I love owls. I tried to make the rose barrett clip thingy last night & wasn't happy with it so tried the other one that I posted yesterday, just made the circles a wee bit smaller, was pleased with how it worked out & hot glued it to a hair clip I'd decorated with a glitter ribbon, daughter think's its beautiful, supposed to be making another 1 tonight.:o
