Next time just call the police and say the car looks like its smoking and may be about to explode that should do the job in getting the driver of the road or even better get the car towed away and crushed.0

How are they any more of a danger than you?0 -
Not on the MID =/= Not insured. Car could be covered by a traders policy, DOC extension, insurer could of not update the MID, could be self insured etc.Not difficult to check nowdays Hammy... if you now where to look!
On the MID = Insured (99% of the time)Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -

You picked the wrong day to make contact with a public service.0 -
The OP talks about it happening at McDonalds, so he/she either knew the car and driver, checked the database using McDonalds WIFI or they made an assumption. Unless the OP comes back we'll never know.
As for why the police didn't turn up so quickly or take much of an interest could be one of a thousand reason and to say its OK to drive around with insurance because they don't care is just stupid. As others have already said if you wanted to remain anonymous then call crimestoppers on the freephone number. On the other hand if your happy to report it then whats the problem with them knowing who you are, they aren't likely to say to the driver that mr/mrs smith from 3 willow street reported you are they!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
I reported a car for being uninsured and untaxed over a year ago (and old Jaguar XJ6) and it's still driving around even now, often parked on the side of the road less than 4 streets away from the cities main Police station.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I said that they may be, and this is because if someone can't afford or can't be bothered getting insured, you may well find that they also can't be bothered getting an MOT or keeping their car in a roadworthy condition.0 -
Maybe they ran the car through the box and it came back has "insurance held"...Might have seen that and thought it not worth doing any further digging with maybe?0
