when he was 18 months i switched to water, he was waking up to 7 times a night for milk and i was exhausted, he never slept throught the night once from birth, i just ended up not buying milk one ti,me coz i didnt have the willpower to listen to him cry, he kicked up a bit of a fuss on the first night but that was it, he was in a cot then so couldnt get out, now it will be harder coz he'll keep getting out of bed.tinkerbell1978 wrote:hi my little boy was two start of oct and now has bottle of milk at bedtime when did you start putting water in instead of milk i think it's me more than him i think he would go to sleep if i tried it!? sorry just being nosey!
I actually found his other bottle earlier so i've given in and given him the water:o:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

maybe a good opportunity then to pass the bottle to santa, bob the builder etc. he is a bit young to understand fully yet like you said but persevere with it. i thought it would be so hard but it was fairly easy in comparison.I'm not a "SINGLE" mum, I'm a "DOUBLE" mum!:D0

See how it goes, might be an ideal time to get him off the bottle, part of me wishes it happened when my son was little as it took me ages to get his off him and all I needed to do was 'loose' it and just put up with the tantrums for a few days. One day I might be more organised...........

If hes anything like my dd he will learn to drink out of it with the top missing!!!LOL.
I refused to buy another one as she had bitten the top off of 3 and she was coming up to 3 and i wanted her to lose the bottle.
Again she only has it at night and she is now just 4, she just uses it as a comforter at night.
It was quite funny when she kept showing it me and i told her the shops dont have them any more.
She learnt to lift her head up and put the bottle in her mouth after wetting herself through a couple of times.!!
These kids are to clever for their own good!!LOL
good luckProud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0

My bestsuggestion is to get one of the anyway cups and let him have that at bedtime.
i dont think children should be left without a drink of water at night. theres many a times i have herd one of mine sucking from one in the early hours...Saying that both me and hubby have a glass or bottle of water by the bed at night...0

Mine drinks Jack Daniels from a glass by his bed and gets very grumpy when he doesn't get it!:D
Seriously, my son used to have his 'sucky cup' - he didn't really care about losing the bottle or having a dummy.
It can take a day or two for them to get used to it but they do respond to distraction and something better. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :mad:  :mad:
