You could try telling him santa has a special present for him but he has to give his bottle up tonight to get it. Maybe you could give him a little Christmas present in the morning if he goes to bed without getting too upset.
It worked with my friends dd who bit a hole in her last dummy the other day. My friend refused to buy anymore because she wanted her dd to get rid of them and it worked

HThe bottle is probably a comfort for him my advice is to put him to bed as ususal and when he starts to cry, wait two minutes and go to him, just say time for sleep, leave him in bed and see him again in 5 mins then double it till you are seeing to him every 30 mins. It takes about 3 days to see any improvements0

he might surpise you then
If he asks for it tonight just make a big fuss of him being a big boy now and hopefully he will get the idea and settle. 0 -
My little fella has 'lost' all his dummys between nannys house and home. They must have fallen out of the bag....
First night, it took him 1.5 hours to go to sleep, last night 30 mins. No mention of dumdums today! Woot.
Just bite the bullet and comfort him. He will go to sleep eventually, and i am sure it will be forgotten within a week."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." Tell him the monster under the bed took it....should take his mind off it
[joke!!]
Whenever I've removed something from my son, I've always tried to replace it with a better (in his eyes) alternative. For example, when I removed his dummies at night, we started allowing him to have a small glass of warm milk before he went to bed. The novelty soon wore off, but by then, the dummies were long gone and forgotten.
Perhaps there is a special cup you could let him have as a replacement to the bottle? You could let him have the cup in his room and tell him that he can have a drink out of it for breakfast? Or is there a different teddy that he can go to bed with as an alternative? or a new story that you can say is instead of the bottle?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

He has his bear that he goes to sleep with already, i wont try him with a drink before bed time coz he'll keep asking for more!
I'll just put him up with a story and see how it goes!:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
