Why Do Tesco Try to Confuse Customers

Why would Tes#o have a dedicated 3 for £10 or 4 for £12 fridge stacked with all the usual meat and chicken offers and then also stack Sirloin steaks that are not included in the offer slap bang right in the middle of all the on offer products, I got to the checkout and was told that the sirloin was not included in the offer. Why stack it there if not to confuse the customer.

Not just Tesco trying to confuse you... had someone come through the till in Sainsbury's the other day & wanted to make sure she'd picked up the correct orange juices for the from concentrate offer as they've changed the packaging. The shelf is confusing - on the left, right & bottom you have from concentrate cartons, then smack bang in the middle is the 100% stuff!
I think it's so you don't get the offer as a lot of people don't check receipts!0 -
Had similar in Sainsburies the other day - a whole end shelf of buy one get one free on sausage rolls, sausages etc. Wasn't at all clear that it wasn't mix and match, should have read the small print I spose. ;(0

I totally agree. I have started checking my till receipts now even before I leave the carpark.0

yes i think i made that mistake last week by picking up 2 not from concentrate and 1 from concentrate as they were all together but need to check teh receipt0 -
I agree. A similar thing happened at Tesco to me today. There's an offer for 1/2 price Hagen Daz in the fridge. Now, from previous experience, I always check for the fine print on the yellow tags. It said 'selected Hagen Daz'. However, when I got to the checkout, the flavour I selected wasn't part of the 1/2 price group. When I went back to the fridge, I found that the non-sale flavours were mixed in with the ones on sale, but it was only the sale flavours that had a price tag.
At what point does this move into the realm of false advertising? And even if it technically doesn't count as such, isn't it damaging to relationship between the company and the consumer?0 -
On their soft drinks aisle there is a 3 for 2 sticker for Coke, printed on the same ticket as the Lemonade.
It's trying to cross sell, but I imagine they don't object when customers buy 3 full priced lemonades0 -
had the same problem with the beer and cider offer, had the stella cider right in the middle of the offer went to the till and wasnt on offer, luckily checked my reciept before i left and had to get it changed and refunded so wasted time. Am very careful to check my reciept now.£27.76/£2018 in 20180

What gets me is that when a product is on offer, some flavours are on offer and others aren't. This causes annoyance in both the customer and shop workers. We then have to go to the area and pick up a flavour that is part of the offer to the customer.
Supermarkets would make more money if they had every flavour of the product on offer. As what happens is customers don't buy the non offer flavours. In the fresh foods, these non offer flavours get reduced because of the date. If they don't get sold, they are disposed at the full price.0 -

i think its also down to the brand owners as well as the supermarkets, in some cases maybe the owners dont want all types of a brand on offer in tesco0 -
I just think that Tesco hire staff who are great at first then become lazy and the managers aren't supervising them enough (unless there is a visit).
I would always check receipts and shelf edge labels in Tesco to avoid being stung as they do try to run stores on fewer members of staff.Competition Wins:
