I am back again and over-declaring at £64.85. Most of this was stocking up on things like washing powder (I hope I like the smell of the Lidl Daz offer - it will last me most of a year as I use so little in each wash); coffee, beer, Flora etc.etc. I was away for 16 nights being fed to an extremely high standard aboard the high seas and now it's back to to 'parritch and auld claes' and in my case, that is exactly how it will be.
I hope you are all building up your experience and supplies over these few summer days so that whatever comes later will be easier and more organised. I have decided the answer is to keep using less and less of everything until whatever the product is, be it washing powder or quantity of meat, ceases to do the trick. I have found that I can use a quarter of the recommended soft water quantity of Ariel for instance, and the clothes are perfectly clean. Bulking out meat with pulses is another subtle way of cutting the quantity. Use a little less shampoo each time you use it - you will soon find it takes very little to do the same job, also creating less polution.
Sometimes less is more.
I won't be needing time to process the tomatoes this year and we have eaten what few strawberries escaped mildew. I hear the plums will be brilliant this year, so look out a few plum sauce and chutney recipes!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

August - I will go for £70.00as we are away for a couple of days in the month and it should be easy enough to manage with what I have got already unless so real bargains come along.

Hi everyone
TheBees haven't been posting this month but still kept track of food spending. Horrified to find that despite being careful we are over budget by about £90 :eek::mad:
I have bought washing liquid and powder and the freezers are still fairly full but I really need to focus in August.

Hello,
I'd like to join in as I know the price of nothing and it's about time I learnt. However, I do know the value of most things. I'm going to guess at £200 I live alone with 2 cats and have a student boarder who does her own food apart from breakfast. I entertain occasionally but I do know I can be too extravagant so this will be good for me. Ist thing is to ALWAYS take lunch to work, OFTEN use Lidl, and NEVER Impluse buyNat West CC,£2112.83 Nat West BankA/C £441.48 Egg Money £15?? Alliance & Leicester £546.92
