Spiggle - couldn't you get tile paint and paint them to tide you over till you have to/need to replace them

1st fair on 13/4/14 :j0 -
Went shopping yesterday at Te$co an spent £17.44 so under the £20 budget but I forgot tinned tomatoes so I'll need to pop in somewhere to get some as haven't got any in the pantry at all  THat's not going to help...
Total so far is £49.43 I can't believe it, I'm really impressed with this :T:T
THe only thing I bought that wasn't on the list was some cereal for DD as she keeps asking for Weetabix but we don't have any. Fortunately they have a 3 for 2 offer on so that helped and I hadn't realised that had an offer of the sandwich ham/chicken so I got 2 for £3. It all helps0 -
Thank you quintwins, spiggle and 69chick. Yes i will take the advice given and see how we get on. I have had A LOT of NSD's this month, so i am doing better in that way, but i have little motivation at the moment. i lapsed in our last shop and bought a lot of pre-cooked things. i need to get back on track and keep my receipts and work out a budget based on that.
Hope everyone is well and your budgets are going well.DFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800

Morning all!
Though I had better update as this month is going by quickly, I've been popping the totals into my page a day diary, these are great btw as I can copy my flylady list in, add recipes and keep track of spends as well as where I should be each day! I drop hints about Christmas time to dh for one each year and they are well worth the pennies!
So far my spends have been:-
£11.50 from the fishman (calls round every 2nd tues) for that I got a huge meaty piece of smoked haddock, enough to make up 2 large meals (4 portions each so 8 portions total) of kedgaree.
A large bag of prawns which should make up 2 x 4 portions of prawn curry and 6 fr eggs which I am putting by for omelettes which dh loves and we share. So hoping for 22 portions - dinner for 11 days.
Have plenty of rice, onions, peas, eggs and spices in for the kedgaree and still a few tins of af curry sauce tucked away. We add leftovers to the omelettes and I've found bags of grated cheese tucked away in the chest freezer (still working my way through that!) must defrost it soon.
£12 for the organic box which yielded celery (argg! have too much of that) cherry tomatoes, 3 courgettes, new potatoes, red onions, nectarines, bananas and some little dessert gooseberries.
£16 spent in M & S (after getting home from a tiring trip up north to see our ds dil and beautiful new grandaughter). This was for some instant food needed as far too tired to cook, so 2 bowls of salad, 3 packets of cold meat, loaf bread, 3 boxes fruit juice and 2 pints milk!
That means we have £101.32 left to spend, still haven't made any jam yet though!:oOur days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Hi Helen,
Thanks for the suggestion but as we have a lot of tiles it's going to be all or nothing! We had the grey ones put in there when we renovated the house in the late 80's. The ones immediately around the bath cracked and about 8-10 years ago I got a set of the larger ones that complemented the originals and fitted those as a second layer over just around the bath to a height of just two tiles - they are the big rectangular ones. I must have done ok as we've never had another leak since! Trouble is that I think anyone we get in will want to rip off all the existing tiles which will be hugely messy and noisy and expensive. And the mse in me (and OH) is saying totally unnecessary as all the others are sound.
If though I decide to change the shower ... well not sure how sound they'd be then. Same goes for replacing the radiator. But then we're getting into a complete refurb rather than redecoration which is as far as I want (and can afford) to go this year. I am definitely not changing my suite which to be fair looks as good as the day it was fitted some 10-12 years ago (the one from the 80's was drab, dire and grey!).
Right enough rambling on my bathroom, must get into the office. back late tonight so I'll see you all tomorrow.
Take care,

Hi all
Just popping in to update, I've been to L**l and Sa**sburys this morning and bought milk, yoghurts (stocked up these alone came to £7.70), cheese (2 x 500g for £5), tinned tomatoes, loads of fruit and vegetables, orange juice and spent £33.04!!!!!!!!!!!! I've added another £1.17 on milk and plums over the last couple of days and it comes to £34.21. I will probably still need milk and maybe some more fruit before payday so I'm going to be even more over budget. I am trying to eat sensibly after weighing myself for the first time for a long time and getting a shock! This means that I am eating more fruit and less rubbish so health wise it's better, purse wise it's not!
Hope you're all having a good day.
