Goobergirl I always put my cereals in those see-through cereal containers - that way nobody knows if it is branded or not AND I can see at a glance if I need to buy any more. Might be worth a try.0 -
Our fridge/freezer gave up yesterday, it was full
its not so much the money's worth of things, but there were loads of batch cooked bits and pieces in the freezer, luckily my bro and sil had room in their freezer for the majority of the meat that was in there. No point really in claiming on insurance as our excess probably wouldn't really cover the cost anyway, its just annoying . So now we need to save money more than ever but am just going to have to buy food as we need it for a few days until we can get another one organised, thank goodness for 12v cool boxes at the moment

Good morning everyone,
GORGEESTWO: maybe you could try freecycle for a replacement freezer. You never know maybe someone is having a new kitchen fitted and is willing to give away previous freezer.
I am having a day at home and plan to tidy carousel cupboard. Things are always falling off carousel and landing at the very back so goodness know what I will discover. Don't know why but I get a great deal of satisfaction from tidying cupboards and drawers. After they are tidy I have been know to just open them for no apparent reason just to admire how tidy they are.:rotfl:I think there might be something a bit peculiar about that personal trait.
Will have left over chicken for dinner. Also have a few florets of cauliflower left which I will deep fry in a batter. Know this is not to everyone's taste but I enjoy it.
Plan not to spend anything today but I am running low on bread and milk. Hope to hold off until tomorrow before I buy them.
Hope you all have a frugal and fruitful day.:)It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!0 -
Hello all
I haven't had time to catch up with all your posts, hope you are all ok! I am just popping in to update signature, I've spent £15.44 in the C**p over the last few days. I've got meat and fish in the freezer and lots of basics like beans, lentils, etc. so it's only fresh fruit and veg, milk and yoghurts to buy. Payday is 26th so about 12 days left, not sure if I'll do it but I'm going to try!
Have a good day everyone.

hey guys
i know that everyone's budget is different depending on their diet, what they do or dont include, pets, etc, but i dont feel like i am achieving much at the moment and it would be really useful to know roughly what other people are budgeting for a similar set up. or does anyone know what the average cost is for food per week/meal?
well, i am feeding 2 adults and 1 child, plus a rabbit and a cat. i do not include household items, etc, just food for us and animals. i do one big shop per month which averages at £120, and i then top up each week on fresh food. if anyone has a similar set up and is willing to tell me what their budget is i would be very grateful.
