hi everyone,
just wanted to say thankyou for your help and suggestions with the birthday cakes i was making. First birthday all done and dusted, and still feeling very emotional from it all!
Cakes went down well - i had to buy butter icing for the cones as the batch i made started to seperate and go watery...i left in fridge but it was too late to save it, plus at this time i was getting a bit stressed out so betty crocker to the recue, lol.
The number one, however i was pleased with. These are the best pictures but i havent got the rest uploaded yet.
I did try out adding white chocolate to the butter icing when i did a small practice batch few days before making this one, but it didnt taste right...not sure what was wrong with it, but wasnt rught.
Everyone loved the lindys chocolate cake though - and it is still so soft a moist now even though it was made last wednesday!!
thank you all again!!:heart2:Married my Prince Charming on 15th April 2011 - perfect day!

I love looking at this thread, everyone makes such gorgeous cakes!
Just wondering if you could give me some advice!
Me and my Mum are making my brothers wedding cake for the big day in August.
He isn't fussed what we do with it, so we have got 2 layers of fruit cake made and are now thinking about how to decorate it.
We were thinking using hearts in various sizes to look like confetti sprinkled on the cake, now we don;t know whether to have the top tier central to the bottom or in one corner - thoughts?!
Also, does anyone know of a good tutorial to make a bride and groom topper? Mum wanted them sitting down but I think it could be a bit more difficult! Any help/ideas/advice would be very much appreciated! We have 2 months to go!
Thanks
JenI love comping! Just waiting for the call from ITV!

Great cakes curlylou. mamascakes wot a horrible situation for you. in any business there will be some unhappy customers or , as this sounds , ones who try it on to get a freebie. dont let her win and make you stop cake making. focus on the people who have been delighted with what you have made for them.:wall:Trying to get a grip :think:0 -
