There used to be a guy on the ebay boards with a website that would change cheques/currency cheaper than the banks. Racking my brain trying to remember the name of it....i think its auctionchex there is a website here http://auctionchex.com/ found it via google. I would just look for some reviews before using just incase i am remembering it this wrong though.

    that name sounds familiar.
a while back I looked into this, but never used though:
http://www.hifx.co.uk/ , I think it was recommened on this boards, I suggest you run a search to find more info here.
  • will ask seller if he's willing to sign up to paypal or will ask to cancel purchase bogger it's a rare item

If your seller looks trustworthy and you are willing to take the risk, why not ask them if you could send them cash in the post.
Sellers can't ask for this, but there is nothing to stop you offering.

Just like in this country there are a lot of immigrants, except they don't come from Asia (except Turkey), they tend to come from Russia and Eastern Europe.

It's like wondering whether Rajiv is a British name or not.

German sellers are permitted not to take Paypal as bank transfer is standard for them.

Be wary about that - you paying the fees to send money usually means you negate your buyer protection because you send it as a gift to them - and Paypal won't help you if the item doesn't turn up or is SNAD.

It really isn't fair on you to pay send money to them so they can avoid fees - it's their responsibility and part of their job to pay for what they use, including Paypal and eBay, it's a reasonable cost of doing business and reaching enough people (every method of payment has its costs) - they will benefit more from your sale than it costs to receive the money. If everyone did that, we wouldn't have the services they offer.

Please send it to them as a normal payment through Paypal, then at least you're covered as a buyer and Paypal get their cut for providing their services.

I would not be happy with this at all as I don't expect to pay sellers' PP fees wherever they are.

Not even if the seller is doing you a favour and accepting paypal even though it wasn't a listed method of payment?
The seller was well within their rights to refuse the OP's offer and open a dispute and get a non payment strike issued to the OP.

Between them, the buyer and seller have come to an arrangement where both of them get what they want and both are happy with the deal.
    Isn't that all that matters?
