the banks are not allowed to charge that amount any more, the law has changed

Nothing has changed we just became more vigilant! :D
  • Will this work then.... not that i'm advocating betting but I have an online account with William Hills. The least you can add to your account is £2.00. So In theory if I choose to say add £10 to the account but instead add it by £2.01 x5, I spend £10.05 with Wm Hills and have £4.95 added to my savings account. There's nothing stopping me taking my £10 back out of my William Hills account. At the end of the month LloydsTSB match the £4.95 or whatever ....

You could tot up a fair few transactions on small amounts without leaving the house!

    What do you reckon ?
  • That seems reasonable, i suppose you could get the free £50 in 51 transactions in one 'sitting', provided you have enough money that can be temporarily withdrawn - it should take a day or 2 for the money to reappear, i think.. someone with more knowledge should clear my mess of an explanation up!
  • Yep Matt, come next February I'm going to give it a go. Will soon find out if it works or not.
  • Why is it Lloyds TSB always come up with schemes that aren't actually saving you money?

Their customer service can't be as bad as HSBC though - evil!
  • so, basically you are looking to buy something as close to the pound below as possible, ie £1.01. Lloyds would then round that up to the nearest pound, ie £2 and this is what you would be charged on your debit card. The 99p would then go into your savings account and they would match it, hence the actual amount going into your savings would be 1.98, 99p of which is already yours. Its worth doing, as you can't lose anything!
  • just read the ts&cs on this - you don't get your matched funds until April for your Feb purchases and the march purchases go in in May. Still worth doing i guess as you won't miss a few pence!

Just registered for this - have to remember to keep buying things to take it over that 99p!! Can imagine being in Tesco doing my £100 shop and asking them to keep stopping after every £1, that could be fun!!! LOL

When registering I seem to recall it saying something about getting confirmation through the post..

    I have not received anything!

    Has anyone?

Nothing here yet. I registered about a week ago and it's not working yet. I suppose it could be due to the holidays. I'll give it a week or so then call in to my branch
