If she withdraws it as jones said it will be theft, people can and do go to prison for doing just this sort of thing.

    Come on, are you serious?
She should just be ready to hand it back, that's all.

OP: Follow Lith's advice, which was at least sensible.

If she found it in the street would you also keep it?

Yes, if I find cash in the street I definitely keep it.

Quite serious, if you are going to quote me then quote the full post saying she should speak to the bank, people have gone to prison for theft for keeping money deposited in thier accounts by mistake.

Incidently keeping money you find in the street is also theft, it should be handed in to the police.

I am stunned that this is even a thread. To the OP, how would you feel if someone else got your money by mistake then said that they felt their daughter deserved that?

    Ridiculous. It's her your money.

My 15 year old daughter has received a payment into her bank account of over 600 pounds - I believe this has been paid into her account in error by the bank (cheque paid in at "Prescot St") .

My question is, if she withdraws the cash from her bank, could she get into trouble ?
If she leaves it in the account, is it hers to keep?

I would love her to be able to keep it as she has been through a lot over the past couple of years & she deserves it, however I'm not sure what advice I can give her, so I thought I would ask on here.

    Many thanks for any advice.

Please no! Your daughter is only 15. You have to ask yourself why she has been through a lot. She is your daughter. Educate her before she follows your steps too far!

if you "steal" the money youll only put her through a lot more go to her bank explain the situation and see what they do
Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you

Speak to the bank and ask them to investigate. It isn't her money and won't be until 6 years have passed.

If it was paid in at the bank then they will most likely soon have a matching case to investigate from someone who is missing that £600!
