  • I followed the same procedure and it was fine .. although I think the term bricking does not refer to the PSP.

Vegata, how did you get to 3.03OE-A? I've seen the new firmware release, but am currently on 3.02OE-B. It says I have to disable PSX in the recovery mode, as well as set kernal to 1.5. I set the kernel to 1.5 when I first installed 3.02OE-B, but can't see how I disable PSX through the recovery console.

Actually, I can't see any benefits to upgrading from 3.02OE-B to 3.03OE-A. Yeah, I'd be able to play Medievil PSX, but that's about it.

If anyone had dead pixels, are you doing anything about them?

Mine arrived with 1 dead pixel (black) in the centre (horizontally) about 1cm away from the top of the screen (vertically).

I've searched on the net and most people reckon you'd be taking a chance trying to exchange as you could end up worse off. Many people seem to have PSPs with several dead or stuck pixels as the norm and the general advice is to be grateful if you only have 1 or 2. It's not bugging me too much but I did expect a screen with no problems.
  • I have always been unlucky with things like this, was amazed that i had no dead pixles!! just wondering wether to downgrade/upgrade to 3.03OE-A, as my luck would mean i would brick it.

You can't fix a dead pixel, but you can sometimes unstick a stuck pixel. Try Pixer fixer. Google pixer fixer to find the program.

What firmware are you on right now?

If you download the easy installer from the first post in the above link, it's fairly straight forward to update to 3.03OE-A from 1.5 and 3.02OE-A/B. You literally just use the extractor to put the files on your memory stick, then hit the 3.03OE-A update button located where you'd normally find your games on your psp. I've just done it - took 5 minutes. Make sure you've set the psp to 1.5 kernal in recovery if you're using 3.02OE-A/B.

    My PSP: 2.60 > 2.71 > 1.5 >2.71 > 1.5 > 3.02OE-A > 3.02OE-B > 3.03OE-A.

It's amazing, really. These firmwares are being ripped apart as soon as Sony releases them.
