And if.. just if, the customers were actually receiving quality advice such as the information found on this very message board, what would you say then?

I haven't got any intention of doing door to door selling. :D

I hope you aren't going to dodge the question about what product BG sell on the doorstep? (post 20)

You`re obviously referring to the Websaver tariff which is a tariff which is only available through the BG website and switching sites.

What`s your understanding of a Standard tariff?

Can you answer the question please.

I wasn't referring to anything in particular.

Standard tariff means tariff which is standard (normal).

    What's your understanding?

But please accurately answer my initial question in post 20.

p.s.why are those Websaver rates only available via BG website or Switching sites. Here's an idea.....offer them on the doorstep? :D

What tariff/s do BG sell on the doorstep? All apart from Websaver and Essentials. We do of course advise on all of the tariffs available at the time.

Is it the cheapest available rate? Is what the cheapest available? Not all customers have internet access or want to pay by DD. The cheapest available for that particular customer also depends on whether they want the prices fixed and the energy consumption.

1.Amongst the BG tariffs? See above
    2. In the market?
    See above

The margins are not high enough for this tariff to be available to field sales. The 6% discount is available as a web based tariff as it doesn`t have large overheads attached to it. A new customer on a Standard tariff can transfer to it once they join, should they wish to do so.

It's brilliant system when you analyse it. We add an overhead to go round selling something that you get by default anyway. (standard).

If you are lucky you may get the one company with the lowest standard at that time, depending on when it's their turn to raise prices.

I suppose it's a sort of employment scheme paid for by the poorest people in the country run by Private energy companies to cream off a bit of profit for so doing. Genius
