Does Martin Lewis know ...?

The type of person that is proactive about getting a better deal and using switching sites etc is unfortunately in the minority.
I would say that maybe 1 in 20 customers have got themselves a good deal ie. capped or online in the area that I live and work. I would honestly go as far as to say that 95% or more are either still with SSE or BG who are the original suppliers.
The majority of people do not realise that the Standard tariff with any supplier is not going to be the best deal so I can relate to why the SSE agent would be trying to educate the customer on current market issues and what the media etc are advising.:money:0 -

Martin Lewis is advising people to fix, I would put money on the fact that the SSE door knocker WONT be switching people to the fixed deal from SSE..Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Indeed none of the door to door sales persons even offer rates close to or equivalent to their own companies best deals.
If they did there might be some merit in what they do. As they don't they are basically con artists.0 -
Couldn't agree more. These agents are not pounding the pavements to 'educate the public' into the benefits of using MSE. They're on commission only-if they don't sign people up, they don't earn anything. Therefore they will deliver whatever spiel they think works best in order to get the punter to sign up-and that includes telling you that the moon is made of cheese and that fairies live at the bottom of your garden. Dropping Martin Lewis into the conversation is just one way of trying to boost their credibility.
Most of us on here know that. Unfortunately the wider public are more susceptible. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
The fact is this uy is using Martin Lewis's name - a name people trust....
1) Martin Lewis wouldnt urge anyone to change at the door when they are on a capped price which will carry a cancellation charge.... Will they make the cancellation chare back in savings over the 2-3months??
Just on the subject of SSE, i had one of their fella's at my door.
He tried flogging me boiler cover.. curently with BG.
He told me as long as the contract is 6mths old their is no cancellation charge..... utter tripe.... in the first year i need to pay 10mths to avoid cancellation charges..... and lookin at their T&C's, your tied in each and every 12mths, plus a cancellation charge will apply if cancelling during the contract
I completely agree and any agent worth his or her salt would advise the same.:money:0 -

All the more reason not to then;)0 -

And if.. just if, the customers were actually receiving quality advice such as the information found on this very message board, what would you say then?:money:0 -

I'd say (to quote Captain Mainwaring) that you were 'getting into the realms of fantasy there'...No free lunch, and no free laptop0
