Anybody familar with various parts of Leeds.
We are planning to move there but can't beleive the price variation between 2 particular areas.
We fancy moving to Horsforth in North Leeds but like the look of Morley 10 miles away in South Leeds.
We don't have school age children so local schools are not an issue, just wondered if anybody has any local knowledge and is Horsforth and North Leeds simply over priced.
250K can get you a 4 bed detached in Morley, wheres 250k gets you a 3 bed semi in Horsforth.

I live not far away from Leeds. There are lots of new builds in Morley, some nice areas some not so nice ! If i was choosing i'd choose Horsforth but if access to motorways is needed, Horsforth would be a bit of a bind for me. Morley is very close to the M1 and M62 and mcuh closer to the city centre. Horsforth is on the ring road which can be a bit of a nightmare at peak times. Have you got any properties in mind ? If you'll be working in Leeds centre, they're both an easy commute but Morley would take about 30 mins less.0

Depends where you work.
South Leeds historically hasn't been as popular as North Leeds. North Leeds overall is much more desirable. More shops, bars etc in that area.
Horsforth is out of town- it's really another town but ot is on train line in- studenty as it has college.
South Leeds you have to be a bit more careful about the exact area.

I live in Guiseley and wouldn't touch a lot of south leeds with a bargepole. We like Guiseley cos it has a trainline to Bradford, Leeds, Ilkley and the schools and considering excellent. There's also a leisure centre, swimming pool and a lot to do with children. There is a cafe bar culture here with costa, but not very good nightlife apart from restaurants.
We are currently considering Horsforth as it is cheaper than where we are. Has a much younger vibe though, two town streets, variety of schools, nice parks. Other ones we are considering are Cookridge, Ilkley (I know it's bradford but we want the trainline to Guiseley). LS16, LS29.OPs so far £42,139

We are both late 40's.
We have just sold our house in Tingley and looking to down size. We have always liked the look of Horsforth and visit relatives from time to time.
Just shocked at the price difference, commuting to work isn't an issue because we both work from home.
Morley has everything you need and the only thing I dislike about it is the roughish pubs, it would be nice to have a decent pub on your doorstep aka the pubs in the Horsforth area.0 -
I have lived in Leeds all my life. Feel free to ask any questions about different towns.
As touched on, certain areas of Morley would be very different to Horsforth, in fact the majority would be. Horsforth is a pretty leafy suburb but fairly vibrant, too.
I am in the next town down called Yeadon.0 -
I lived in horsforth while at university. It was great but depends if you want to see lots of students about? It's not a huge town, not much there but very quick train ride into Leeds. We always felt very safe in horsforth.0

Is Horsforth really cheaper than Guiseley. That surprises me. Bar being stuck on broadgate i would have thought Horsforth was quite a lot dearer.0 -
I was in ilkley today. It is nice. Otley is much cheaper and I think coming up a lot.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
