MrsShawToBe,
I'm not sure why you find (1) doing research, and (2) being way too interested in gym prices, both objectionable behaviours? It was stated explicitly earlier that the objective was to disclose DL's hidden prices, I've attempted to keep this the focus, and indeed it is the main title of the thread! Still, thank you for your contribution - perhaps you could go to your DL, take the tour, etc, and get some prices from them to publish here?
gymsalesjames,
Thanks for your prices. Agreed that it would be difficult to compare like for like in different part of the country unless of course there was a big response in this thread, which hasn't happened. Most quotes have been for other gyms anyway.0 -
Maybe it's time to state the request for information again for any new readers:
Please state membership type:
1. With or without rackets.
2. Anytime, or off-peak only.
3. Single, joint (two people), family membership...
4. For which specific gym location, or for any gym countrywide.
Assumed is one month rolling contract paid by Direct Debit, and for normal age working people, unless you state otherwise.
So, let's have a dislosure of what people are paying at DL. It's necessary somewhere because at least with savings accounts, insurance, and the like, the new rates for new customers are published so you can see whether loyal customers are being ripped off. But with David Lloyd it's all hidden.0 -
There's something really odd about this thread...0

Thats what I thought... Not suspicious or anything, just really strange... Why would anyone want to know so much about a specific gym memberships prices?0 -
You should be able to get the price out of them if you follow this script. Most sales people are told to give them out if you ask 3 times or more:
"Hello DL, Bob speaking"
"Hi Bob, I was wondering how much a membership is at your club"
"We have a range of prices yada yada, what are you interested in yada yada, you should come and have a look to get more detail"
"I'm interested mostly in **** and I'd like to have a look, I just want to know what sort of price it would be, what's the range for a (choose from peak, off peak, joint, whatever you think you might be. If you work for a large company drop the name in for corporate discount purposes) membership?"
"Prices range from £xx to £yy for our (whatever type you asked about) memberships"
"Ok, and what would I get for £xx"
"Bob tells you"
"Ok, and what about £yy"
"Bob tells you"
If that doesn't get the prices out of them, nothing will.0 -
Hi I called David Lloyd Luton a few weeks ago to ask about membership prices and found it easy enough. After the usual chat the guy gave me a price there and then. I was on the phone for about 5 minutes max. I was invited down for a tour and was told I could bring my kit and have a trial if I wanted.
I asked about a joint corporate peak membership, no rackets at that club and was quoted £120 for both of us.

I spoke to sales person at enfield DL and it was £85 for full membership for 12 months inc rackets (not sure about towels)
3 months worked out to £93
its too steep for me but I hope it helps someone

That's very cheap for a rackets membership at DL. The 3mth full with rackets near me is nearly £160/mth.0 -
Think very carefully about joining would be my advice.
I though it was great when I first joined but then very quickly I realised that it was not the fitness centre I was after, the team are very well trained in sales but beyond that customer service is poor, they make up the terms and conditions as they go along and having now joined a smaller gym I question the qualifications of the trainers.
I was prepared to pay for the service and brand they were marketing but realised too late that they are purely sales people not a fitness and leisure centre.
Expect your monthly fee to increase within a couple of months. There are other excellent gyms out there have a look at them too!0 -

these 22 posts didn't answer her question. I'm interested to find out same price for couple and family with 2 kids 6 and 9. Have DL behind the corner, but want to know prices, and my margin to haggle for special rate.
thanks for all honest answers. some people avoid answeringHave you got something to share - Do it.
