Hi andy.m, I apreciate what you are saying & I know that I am the one that is in the wrong as I am in arreas but I don't expect an employee of a bank to turn up on my doorstep un-announced & she didn't even have the courtesy to show me any ID or proof of who she was or where she was from. This makes them no better than a loan shark.
I also wasn't asked if I had received their letter & I am sure by sending a letter by recorded post is a more reliable, professional & cheaper way of making sure that someone has recived a letter than paying someone an hourly rate to drive around to peoples houses.
When she left my doorstep, she said she was going to contact me Thursday with some figures for paying this back. If she doesn't get back to me then I have no proof as to what was said or agreed.
I explained in my first letter my situation & how much I could afford to pay back, so why this couldn't be set up weeks ago when I sent the letter I have no idea!! It's not like I could afford anymore just because they sent someone to my house.0 -
They might well be looking at checking the affordability of a pyment plan, no point you saying you can pay 150 pcm say if you quite clearly can only pay 60.
I hate to be the one to bring you bad news, but you do know they dont have to accept your offer at this stage dont you?Sealed pot challange no: 3390 -
Check the Debt Free Wannbe forum a few sections down, there are letters you can send that prevent these scoundrels from banging on your door.
I'll see if I can find it."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -

It's antagonism like this that really doesn't help the OP in her situation.
Why would anyone in their right mind turn down the offer of help in person. As has already been stated the Field Agent can help the Op make a realistic arrangement to this and all her creditors if needs be.0 -

Antagonism? woohhhh hold on there dump truck
I'm trying to help the op, companies have to stick by the same rules as normal joe public. You can send a letter asking that all communication is done by post and not to have random people hammering on your door.
It's up to the op to arrange to pay, send a letter or whatever but I see no reason why I shouldn't advise them of their rights to do so."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
In fact op, check this thread for the letter you'll need to send. Hope that helps.

Nonsense - honestly you are not helping yourself here. Also she will not be a bank employee but will be contracted to represent various lenders. Did you ask to see her ID ? She only has to show it if you ask.I also wasn't asked if I had received their letter & I am sure by sending a letter by recorded post is a more reliable, professional & cheaper way of making sure that someone has recived a letter than paying someone an hourly rate to drive around to peoples houses.
Again why would she ask if you have received a letter - how would she even know you had been sent one ? What relevance has this anyway ? You have been sent and received a letter previously - what difference did that make ? The objective is to speak to you in person with a view to getting this sorted out and to submit your proposal in writing to the lender. This will help you - please see that. They are not paid an hourly rate - it's a one off fee (again entirely irrelevant - I would be grateful they are investing in this to try and help you). When she left my doorstep, she said she was going to contact me Thursday with some figures for paying this back. If she doesn't get back to me then I have no proof as to what was said or agreed.
See above - any payment arrangement will be submitted in writing to the lender for you. You can have a copy too.I explained in my first letter my situation & how much I could afford to pay back, so why this couldn't be set up weeks ago when I sent the letter I have no idea!! It's not like I could afford anymore just because they sent someone to my house.
Clearly the amount of information you have provoded is not enough for the lender - not unreasonable bearing in mind you want them to accept a lower payment.0 -

Antagonistic using language like 'prevent these scoundrels'.
You clearly have no idea of the difference betweeen a doorstep collector and a Field Agent. Usual problem of someone having a little information and believing it covers every situation. I also seriously doubt the letter you quote has any basis in law anyway and again the example post you have quoted is talking about Scotcall - a doorstep collector whose only remit is to collect money at the door.
So another great example of where a small amount of knowledge is dangerous !!0 -
