Most Company's you owe money to to if you have written a letter to them even if you did not state it would in most cases for the vast majority of the Company's would write back and then you have the chain of letters, no need for phone calls and most certainly not any need for a unsolicited door step visit unless arranged with prior consent !0

The tatty, un-professional scrap of paper she left me said that she had been instructed to make a personal call to me today.
But why wasn't I informed of this instruction??? And anyway what ever happened to sending a letter by recorded post?? Why do they need to come to my door?? I didn't ask them to come0 -
If you have not asked to deal with them by letter only then it seems to me that they are trying to be helpful, to pee them off so royally as Crazyguy suggest would mean your file os expedited to the debt collection department pronto I would suggest!
Crazyguy, calm down, there is no mention of letter only, no mention of harrassment, in fact the OP hasnt responded to their letter they sent last week so it's all good.

Im am saying that these company's do in most cases attempt to push you into a corner in the hopes of getting more, stating to them that you will only deal with this in letters will in no way affect your situation in any way shape or form.
You are behind with the account already, collection dept has the account, ( mark on credit file as late payment ) only goes to the next stage if you completely dismiss and do not contact them.
Written formatt for any debt owed is the best way to deal with them, as if a problem arises you have paperwork to verify any aggreement made0 -
I wasn't aware that you had to write in a letter that you only want to deal with them via letter, if I had known that then I would have included that in my letter.
I am quite old fashion is some respects as I prefer things in writing for proof. To many things have been made worse via phonecalls/face to face as it is your word against theirs.
I still don't think it's right just to turn up on someones door step. She didn't leave me her address for me to go to her house to sort things out.0 -
All you're doing is skirting around the real issue. You're in arrears, you need to sort it out with them ASAP.
The quicker you act the better for you.
You received the letter last week and haven't got around to phoning them yet. How long does it take to just give them a call. You can't just leave things like this, not even for a week, you need to sort it.
All you'll end up doing is get more stress, which in your condition you don't need. Don't spend time on here p.u.s.syfooting around, phone them and get it sorted.
Even dealing with it by letter will just prolong the process, phone them, come to an arrangement and then ask that all future correspondence is letter only and ask for a confirmation letter, containing the arrangement and that they understand you wish to be contacted by post only.0 -

Does she owe you money and is in default?
If she does then thats bad.
Seriously, you owe them money, you are in default, she hasn't exactly harassed you has she?
Perhaps they are wanting to check that you received the letter last week and why haven't you replied?
Perhaps they wanted to talk to you on your home soil so that you'd be more relaxed?
All manner of reasons why, call her and discuss it ASA(f)PSealed pot challange no: 3390 -

This is good advice from andy.m. The person who called at your door is not a doorstep collector such as Moorcroft etc, this will be a Field Agent or Arrears Counsellor as they used to be called. These people will help you sort this mess out and in many cases will be able to work through a proper income and expenditure form with you so if you are having problems elswhere too you can start to get everything resolved now with assistance.
good luck0
